He was born in Bethesda, Md., on September 27, 1950, the son of the late Irving Lacey and Peggy Cook Davis. He was employed with the Georgia Department of Corrections as a training lieutenant with 10 years of dedicated service. He was Protestant and was an avid fish erman and enjoyed woodworking, loved ones stated. Survivors include his wife, Brenda Davis, Alto; daughters and son-in-law, Kristina and David Tyre, Clarkesville, Bobbi Howd, Jacksonville, Fla.; sons, Brian Davis, Missouri, and Michael Howd, Jacksonville, Fla.; a sister, Debra Davis, Baldwin; and grand children, Gunnar Rodgers, Savannah Rodgers, Konner Yockey, Kaitlynn Howd, Haillee Howd, Mya Davis, Caleb Tyre and Jonah Tyre. Funeral services were held Saturday, April 19, in the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with the Revs. Johnny Jett and Steve Doran officiating. She was born in Gaston County, N.C., the daughter of the late William H. Maddox Sr. and Annie Cooper Maddox. She was a homemaker and a member of Walnut Fork Baptist Church. Mrs. Richardson was preced ed in death by her husband, William E. Richardson; brothers, William H. Maddox Jr., Walter Harold Maddox; and a sister, Mildred Brady. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Tommy E. and Patty Richardson, Clarkesville; daugh ters and sons-in-law, Brenda Jayne and Dennis Zupfer, Summerville, S.C., Glenda Jill and Mike Sandone, Philadelphia, Pa.; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Emma Presley Infant Emma Teaghan Presley, daughter of Mitchell and Tara Presley of Maysville, died at birth on Wednesday, April 16, 2008, at BJC Hospital in Commerce. Billy Joe Patrick Billy Joe Patrick, 55, of Commerce, died Saturday, April 19, 2008, at his residence, following a brief illness. Mr. Patrick was preceded in death by a sister, Wilma Cochran; and brother, Leland Patrick. Survivors include a daughter, Angela Patrick, Commerce; step-son, Tommy Tench, Cornelia; brothers, Roy Patrick, Alfred Patrick, Edward Patrick, Waymon Patrick, Robert Patrick, Roger Patrick and David Patrick; sisters, Johnnie Sue Hill, Annie Rae Cartledge; and grandchil dren, Tyler Aitken, Autumn Aitken, Cole Aitken, Nathanial Saylors, Katie Tench, Kylee Tench and Cody Tench. He was born on July 17, 1951, in Gulf County, Fla., the son of the late Lewis Willard Sr. and Sarah Porter Grant. He was a member of the Demorest Baptist Church and was employed with Baker Taylor in Commerce with 28 years of dedi cated service. Survivors include a sister and brother-in-law, Caroline G. and Richard W. Freel, Atlanta; and niec es, Carrie Freel, Mandy Freel and Laura Freel. Memorial services will be held at a later date. 'Dock' Allen Jiles E. “Dock” Allen, 91, of Demorest, died Saturday, April 19, 2008, at the Habersham County Medical Center. Born on April 18, 1917,inHabersham County, he was the son of the late Raleigh Howard and Julia Louise Benfield Allen. He was a member of the Habersham Baptist Church and was a veteran, having served in the United States Army during World War II. He was an ordained Baptist minister and was former ly pastor at Cross Roads Baptist Church, Alto Baptist Church, and Glade Creek Baptist Church. He was a retired supervisor with Russell Corporation, Habersham Mills. Mr. Allen was preceded in death by sisters, Ann Darnell, Versie Watkins, Nathalie Terrell and Dallie Cragg; and brothers, Robert Allen, Cecil Allen, Hubert Allen, Vivian Allen and Paul B. Allen. Survivors include his wife, Grace Wiggins Allen, Demorest; daugh ter and son-in-law, Julia Mae Allen Porterfield and Robert Porterfield, Newport News, Va.; three grandchil dren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. Born in Worth County, he was the son of Byron Medders of Maysville and the late Llewellynn Hutto Medders. He was a retired truck driver. Smith Sr., 48, of Dahlonega, died Monday, April 14, 2008, at the Chestatee Regional Hospital in Dahlonega. A native of Lumpkin County, he was the son of Barbara Smith of Jackson and the late Jack V. Smith. He lived for many years in South Georgia before retiring to Dahlonega a little over a year ago. He was a truck driver and was Baptist. Survivors in addition to his moth er, include a son, Jack W. Smith Jr.; daughter, Christina Tritt, Oklahoma; brother, Ricky Smith, Lula; sisters, Sherry Lackey, Eatonton, Janice Pate, Arabi, Teresa White and Michelle White, both of Dahlonega, and Cindy Woody, Cumming; two grandchildren; special friend, Vicki Tritt, Dahlonega; and a number of relatives. Evans, 82, of Commerce, died Wednesday, April 16, 2007, at the Athens Regional Medical Center, following an extended illness. Mr. Evans was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Hanley Evans, and was a World War II veteran. Jack Couch Jack Warren Couch, 87, of Lawrenceville, died Sunday, April 13, 2008, following an extended ill ness. Born on November 23, 1920, in Clarke County, he was the son of the late Howard Dewey and Lucy Belle Epps Couch. He graduated from Athens Georgia High School in 1938 and received an LLB from John Marshall Law School in June 1958. He retired from Lockheed Aircraft Corporation as material administrator in 1983. He was a veteran, having served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II in the Pacific in 1942. Mr. Couch will be remembered for his quick wit and the love and care he gave his extended family over the years, loved ones stated. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Jamie Tate Couch; and a brother, Dr. Randall Epps Couch. He was the grandson of Early Oscar Epps and Annie Herndon Epps, and Henry Crawford Couch and Sarah Graves Couch, great- grandson of Thomas North Epps and C. Penelope Jennings Epps, great-great-grandson of William and Sarah Alexander Epps. Survivors include daughters, Deborah C. Ford, Lawrenceville, and Donna C. Guyton, Maysville; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchil dren; six great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. Olan Queen Olan Albert Queen, 84, of Cornelia, died Monday, April 14, 2008, at his residence. He was born on November 18, 1923, in Fulton County, the son of the late Riley and Nancy Carlille Queen. He was a member of the Mt. View Baptist Church and was a retired lieutenant with the Georgia Department of Corrections, LACI, Alto. He was a member of the Georgia Peace Officer’s Association. Mr. Queen was a veteran, having served in the United States Coast Guard during World War II. Survivors include his wife, Catherine Norris Queen, Cornelia; daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Gene Pruitt, Cornelia; sister, Martha Lou Sell, Winder; granddaughters and spouse, Kristy and Matthew Hill and Kimberly Pruitt, all of Baldwin; step-grandchildren, Jimmy Johnson, Gail Fairclough, Gwen Lowden and Chuck Johnson, all of Baldwin, Angie Fields, Alpharetta, Brad Norris, Homer, Chad Gunter, Lawrenceville; eight step-great grandchildren; and four step-great- great-grandchildren.
