He was born in Portsmith, Va., the son of William Edward Abbs of Carnesville and Mary Jane Bellant Minesal of Commerce. He was a United States Army Veteran. He was owner of Wayne Neal Chevrolet. Mr. Abbs was also on the MDAC Board of General Motors, member of the Commerce Kiwanis Club, Blue Knights, chairman of Relay for Life of Jackson County, and honorary chair of Banks County Relay for Life. Survivors in addition to his parents include his wife, Heather Abbs, Commerce; daughters, Kimberly Balenger, Carnesville, and Madison Abbs, Commerce; sons, Wayne Abbs, Jr., Germany, Chase Crumley, and Kyle Abbs, both of Commerce; and brothers, Robert Abbs, St. Johns, Mich., and Scott Abbs, Atlanta. Funeral services were held Saturday, December 24, at the chapel of Little- Ward Funeral Home with the Revs. Jeff Williams and Tommy Cleveland officiating. Interment was in Jackson Memorial Gardens. She worked in the billing department for Progressive Lighting and had done medical billing for several years. In addition to her par ents, she is survived by her husband, Larry Berry, Jefferson; daughter, LaRae Berry, Jefferson; two brothers, Phil Royal, Winder, and Chris Royal, Bethlehem; and seven nieces and nephews. She was born in Madison County, the daughter of the late Claude G. and Mattie Burroughs Cartledge. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta. Mrs. Fallaw was a retired executive secretary for 36 years with Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company. She volunteered for Northside Hospital, and helped with the Peachtree Road Race and the Olympics. Mrs. Fallaw was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Fallaw, Sr.; and a son, Charles Fallaw, Jr. Survivors include grandchildren, Samuel C. Fallaw, Homewood, Ala. and Elizabeth L. Fallaw, Ep worth; and broth er, Karl H. Cartledge, Macon. Graveside services were held at noon, Wednesday, December 21 at Mt. Hermon Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Survivors include her son, Kent Gordon, Conyers; sister, Mary Baker, Athens; one grandchild, two great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Hawks was born in Jackson County to the late Claud and Leona McConnell Hawks. He was a United States Air Force Veteran and a member of New Harmony Baptist Church. Mr. Hawks was retired from the USDA Poultry Research Lab. Mr. Hawks is survived by his wife, Joyce Barnett Hawks, Nicholson; son, David Hawks, Nicholson; daughter, Lynda Hemphill, Athens; sisters, Evelyn Haynes, Danielsville; andDorothy Erdman, Missouri; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A native of Jackson County, Mr. Hayes was a son of the late Hubert L. and Lillie Mae Self Hayes. Mr. Hayes had worked for Wicks Mobile Homes in Winder, Ga. for over 20 years and also at Mitsubishi in Braselton, Ga. for over nine years before retiring. Mr. Hayes was a longtime member at Center United Methodist Church in Hoschton.
