Born in Spartanburg, S.C., he was the son of the late John Boyce and Nora Youngblood Adair. Mr. Adair was preceded in death by his grandchildren, Margo Mullins Moon, Dixie Adair Turbeville and Matthew Adair; and great-grandson. Hunter Turbeville. Affectionately known as “Big Daddy,” he was a dedicat ed family man who was loved and will be missed by his fam ily and many friends that he leaves behind. He has made his home in Madison County since 1954, was a United States Army veteran of World War II and was retired from the U.S. Soil Conservation Service following 42 years of service. Mr. Adair was a longtime active mem ber of Hull Baptist Church, where he served in numerous capacities including Deacon and Sunday School teacher. He was an honorary lifetime member of the American Red Cross as a volunteer and dedi cated many years of service. He earned a B.A. in Journalism from the University of South Carolina and was a National Account Executive with Xpedx. Tony loved his family more than anything. Mr. Armistead was an avid fisherman, fishing from childhood through adult hood, loved gardening, where he would spend hours in the yard, coached baseball for 20 years and football. He loved college football - Go SEC - Go Dawgs!; and was active in the theater pre- college days. Bentley, 83, passed away on Tuesday, January 1, 2013, at the Andrew T. Parker division of Embracing Hospice in Snellville. He served in the United States Navy and was a vet eran of the Korean War. After 39 years of ser vice at Delta Airlines, Mr. Bentley retired as an inspector in the quality control department. (18360) Henry Besuden Henry Waldemar Besuden Sr., known to many as “Dinky,” was called home to be with his precious Lord on Friday, December 28, 2012, at the age of 86. Henry’s life was one adventure after another. He was born in Ohio in 1926, and he moved to Florida as a boy with his father, where he was an avid horseman and fisher man. Henry was a great lover of horses from a very young age and horses loved him. He was a true horse whisperer. Henry attended Gordon Military Boarding School in Bamesville, Georgia. Once he graduated from high school he enlisted in the United States Navy and his travels took him to Shanghai, Australia, and Hawaii. Upon his return to Georgia, he attended and grad uated from Gordon College. He met his beautiful bride Louellen and they resided in Barnesville for the next 32 years. Henry retired from the William Carter Company in 1978. In the next 30 years, he and Louellen lived in the Blue Ridge Mountains, Homer, and Las Vegas, Nevada. In his final years he returned to his beloved Georgia and resided in Madison. Henry was a member of Centennial Baptist Church, the American Legion, and Mission Service Corp. Henry’s hobbies included horses, stained glass, and Bonsai. Henry was preceded in death by his father, Waldemar Henry Besuden. Survivors include his beloved wife of 63 years; a devoted daughter, Beverly Stansell; loving son, Wally (Charlotte); five grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. Memorial services were held on Sunday, December 30, at Centennial Baptist Church. Henry was bigger than life and he will be missed by many. He was born in Madison County on September 14,1925, the son of the late Clarence Otto and Della Davis Brooks. Mr. Brooks was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Mary Chandler Brooks; and a sister, Evelyn Brooks Daniel. He retired in 1990 from a long career of leadership and innovation in the tread rub ber and tire industry. He was a member of Moon's Grove Baptist Church. He was a United States Army veteran who served during World War II. He later became employed by Norfolk Southern Railroad Company and after 34 years of faithful service, retired as a yardmaster. He was a member of Union Baptist Church in Winder. He enjoyed gardening vari ous types of produce, but he is best remembered as a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend, who faithfully attended his grandchildren’s various activities. Gastley died peacefully of advanced dementia on Saturday, December 29, 2012, at Wellington Place in Kennesaw. She was 86 years young. Millee was born in Danielsville on November 15, 1926, the daughter of the late Buford and Audrey Brown Smith. She attended Madison County High School and graduated in 1945. Millee was preceded in death by her late husband John Milton Gastley, Homer. Survivors include a son, John Lee Gastley (Mary), Charleston, S.C.; daughter, Kay Gastley Milam (Joey), Kennesaw; three grandchil dren, Mary Margaret Gastley, Jonathan Andrew “Andy” Milam, and Audrey Leigh Milam; brother, Buford Leeon Smith (Marlyn), Elberton; and two nephews, Clipper Smith and Ty Smith. She was a longtime mem ber of the Avondale Patillo United Methodist Church in Avondale, where she was in the Joy Class. She loved going to nursing homes and singing with “Kay’s Crew.” She also volunteered at Our House, a daycare center for homeless children, in Decatur.
