Staying in the number two spot in the region just behind Buford with a 3-1 region record. BCHS took games from West Hall 57-46 and Oglethorpe 82-23. The win over the Patriots was the third in the Saturday night sweep. In the West Hall game, the Lady Leopards were down by two points at the end of the first quarter and roared back in the second quarter to finish the half 29-20. Taylor Kennedy sunk a half court shot at the buzzer before retiring to the locker room. The Spartans stayed with the Lady Leopards in the third quarter. BCHS was only able to add one point to the lead and repeated the performance in the fourth quarter. The Lady Leopards held on to the lead for the win. Taylor Kennedy scored 22 points leading the team to the victory. Lauren Carter added 12 points, Kaitlyn Duncan scored nine points, Casey Turner scored six points. Haley Warner, McKenna Rylee, Savannah Blalock and Paige Mathis scored two points each for the win. “West Hall did a really good job shutting down our inside game,” head coach Jerry King said. “Fortunately, we were able to hit nine three point shots. I think that with the exception of Buford our region is very tight and anyone could win on any given night. So this was a big game for us, but all region wins are big wins.” OGLETHORPE GAME The Lady Leopards were on fire against the Oglethorpe Patriots on Saturday night. Every Lady Leopard scored at least three points in the game. BCHS started with a nine point lead at the end of the first quar ter and added 18 to the lead by the half. BCHS didn’t let up in the third quarter adding 13 more to the lead and almost shut out the Patriots in the period. The Lady Leopards finished off the game adding seven points to the lead to rack up 82 points against the Patriots for the win. Lauren Carter and Kaitlyn Duncan scored 15 points each, McKenna Rylee scored 10 points. Haley Warner and Paige Mathis scored seven points each, Savannah Blalock scored six points. Jody Milford, Shelby Parsons and Casey Turner scored five points each, Taylor Kennedy four points and Abby Parks three points. “It would have been very easy for the girls to come out flat in this game after a very intense region game the night before,” Coach King said. “However, they came out and played the game and not their opponent. The bench came in, got a great deal of time, and the intensity never dropped. I was really pleased with the matu rity the girls showed by playing the game hard from buzzer to buzzer.” Friday night is Elementary School Night. Each team will have an elementary school teacher as a guest coach and all elementary school kids will get a free ticket to the game at school this week. The home room with the most students that redeem their tickets at the game will get an ice cream party. There will also be ele mentary school kids singing the national anthem and rec ognizing students at half time of the boys’ game. The Lady Leopards were to be back in action on January 8 at White County and at home on January 11 against Fannin County. TO THE BOARD Haley Warner takes a rebound up for the score. LEADS THE CHEER Senior Lauren Hill leads the Leopards cheerleaders in a cheer during a recent game. ANDERSON SINGS Xena Anderson sings the National Anthem before the game Saturday night.
