Each game came down to the last shot at the buzzer with West Hall taking the prize Friday Night 51-49 over the Leopards. But the Leopards finished the sweep over Oglethorpe with a last minute lay up by Greg Cannon for the win 58-56 on Saturday Night. “I thought we gave great effort both nights,” head coach Mike Cleveland said. “It was a tough loss against a very good West Hall team. We did an incredible job of erasing a 17 point deficit and gave ourselves a chance. It was a tough one to lose. Any time you get beat on a last second shot, its tough mentally and emo tionally.” BCHS started out strong leading 13-7 in the first quarter against the Spartans but dropped 13 points in the second quarter to trail by seven at the half. The Leopards went down by three more points by the end of the third quarter. The Spartans opened the fourth quar ter leading 39-29 as the Leopards started to close in but a last minute shot that bounced around the rim fell in for the Spartans and they steal the game from BCHS. BCHS was 20 of 51 field goals for 51 points, 15 of 35 two point shots, five of 16 from three point range. The Leopards were six of eight from the free throw line and had 11 assists with 25 rebounds, 11 offensive and 14 defensive. The Leopards turned the ball over 20 times with 15 steals, committed 11 personal fouls. Austin Venable scored 15 points, Gatlin Boswell scored 12 points, Zac Orr eight points, Isaiah Smith six points. Graham White and Will Ledford scored three points each. OGLETHORPE “I thought we played hard again on Saturday against Oglethorpe,” Coach Cleveland said. “We do have to get better at preserving leads. It was a good win. We needed one, especially at home.” BCHS took a three point lead in the first quarter and managed to add one in the second quarter to lead 31-27 at the half. The Leopards fought for one more point to the lead in the third quarter. The Patriots came back and the game was tied up with about a minute to go. The Leopards brought the ball in bounds, took time off the clock and looked for an opening. Greg Cannon took the pass and made the lay up with seconds left on the clock, the Patriots marched down the court and put up a final shot but it bounced off the rim and the Leopards win one at home. BCHS was 21 of 48 field goals for 58 points, 18 of 37 two point shots, three of 11 from three point range. The Leopards were 13 of 17 from the free throw line and had eight assists with 24 rebounds, seven offensive and 17 defensive. BCHS had four blocks and one deflection. The Leopards turned the ball over 11 times with 11 steals, committed 16 personal fouls with one charge taken. Gatlin Boswell scored 20 points, Zac Orr and Will Ledford scored 10 points each, Greg Cannon nine points, Graham White five points and Austin Venable scored four points.
