Team wins against both
West Hall and Oglethorpe

The Banks County High
School JV girls basketball team
picked up a pair of victories this
weekend. The Lady Leopards
downed West Hall 45-10 and
Oglethorpe 58-17.
In the West Hall game, the
Lady Leopards took a nine
point lead in the first quar
ter of the game and followed
it up with nine more by the
half. Adding three points in
the third quarter and 14 points
in the final quarter to seal the
contest.
Jaylyn Lack led the Lady
Leopards with 13 points,
Paige Mathis scored nine
points, Morgan Rylee eight
points, Mallory Parson five
points, Abby Parks four points.
Bayleigh Marlow and Jody
Milford scored three points
each.
The JV Girls started the four
game sweep of Oglethorpe on
Saturday night with a strong
showing in the first quarter 14-0.
The intensity was ramped up in
the next quarter as the Lady
Leopards scored 19 points and
added 17 to the lead. Taking to
the locker room with a halftime
lead of 33-2 over the Patriots.
BCHS continued to domi
nate the scoreboard in the
third quarter adding 14 points
to the lead. The Lady Leopards
pulled back a bit in the fourth
quarter and the Patriots made
up four points in the game.
Morgan Rylee and Mallory
Parson led the Lady Leopards
with 13 points each. Abby Parks
and Paige Mathis scored eight
points each. Shelby Parson
scored six points, Lauren Parr
four points. Jaylyn Lack and
Bayleigh Marlow added three
points each to the board.
The Lady Leopards were to
be back in action on January
8 at White County and at home
on January 11 against Fannin
County.

The Banks County High
School JV boys won two games
over the Christmas break. The
Leopards won against West
Hall 59-41 and kept the sweep
alive against Oglethorpe win
ning 58-47 on Saturday night.
In the West Hall match up,
the Leopards took the lead in
the first quarter 11-3 and never
looked back. Having an eight
point advantage going into the
second quarter the Leopards
would add five more points for
a 27-14 lead at the half.
The third quarter was the
closest battle with a two point
difference in the score for the
period. But the Leopards would
add those two points and three
more in the fourth quarter to
keep the momentum and the
lead for the win.
Traice Bagley led the
Leopards with 15 points,
Zezmon Steeple scored nine
points, Trevae Cain scored
seven points. Jordan Barnett
and Isaiah Smith scored five
points each. Will Ledford,
Malcolm Mitchell and Will
Griffin scored four points each.
In the Oglethorpe game, the
Leopards opened the game
with a 12 point lead against
the Patriots, but lost ground
during the second quarter scor
ing 12-21 to lead by only three
points at the half.
BCHS started to take back the
game in the third quarter scor
ing 13-8 over the Patriots and
leading the game by nine, 45-37.
The Leopards sealed the win
scoring 13-10 in the fourth quar
ter and won the second game
of the Saturday Night sweep.
Zezmon Steeple led with 13
points, Malcolm Mitchell was
on his heeels with 12 points,
Jordan Barnett scored eight
points, Mitch Standridge and
Trevae Cain scored seven
points each. Taylor Nix scored
four points, Traice Bagley three
points, Alex Lewis and Will
Griffin scored two points each.
The JV Leopards will be back
in action at home on January
11 against Fannin County.
