BALDWIN POLICE One arrest among incidents BANKS COUNTY Burglary, battery reported in week Banks County Sheriff’s Office personnel responded to a number of incidents during the period of Dec. 29 through Jan. 7, including the following: •burglary at a Steven B. Tanger Boulevard, Commerce, business. • simple battery - family violence act (FVA) at a Highway 441, Commerce, location. • fraudulent activity reported by a Wrights Mill Road, Commerce, resident. The male complain ant reported someone used his Habersham Federal Credit Union account without his per mission at a grocery store in Michigan for a purchase of $102. • no insurance on Historic Homer Highway at Highway 98, Homer. • warrant service on Interstate 85 south bound at Exit 149, Commerce, during a traffic stop for an obstructed tag. •dispute at a Harmony Church Road, Baldwin, residence. • suspicious people at a Grant Mill Road, Alto, residence. •theft by shoplifting at Walmart, Highway 441 South, Commerce. • forgery, identity theft and theft by taking at a Damascus Road, Homer, residence. •burglary at Applebee’s, Ridgeway Road, Commerce. •criminal trespass at a Forrester Road, Maysville, residence. •suspicious activity at the Historic Banks County Courthouse, Yonah-Homer Road, Homer. • dispute at a Carson Segars Road, Maysville, residence. •criminal trespass at Commerce Cinemas, Banks Crossing Drive, Commerce. • dispute at a Westbrook Road, Homer, resi dence. •recovered property at a Lord Road, Commerce, residence, where a suspicious bag was reported. •prowler at a Borders Road, Commerce, residence. • possession of an open alcohol container on Highway 105 at the Broad River bridge, Baldwin, where a vehicle was stopped. • animal dispatch at a Bennett Road, Commerce, location. •damage to property at Walmart, Highway 441 South, Commerce. • theft by taking at an Andrews Lane, Baldwin, residence, where the complainant reported two deer stands missing. • sexual battery at a Barnes Road, Commerce, residence. • obstructing or hindering a law enforcement officer at Express Mart Valero Convenience Store, Highway 441, Commerce. •custody dispute at a Payne Road, Homer, residence. • found item at a Moccasin Gap Road, Lula, residence. • theft by taking at a Forrester Road, Maysville, residence, where the complainant reported the theft of a 2001 Toyota Sequoia. • recovery of a stolen vehicle at a Forrester Road, Maysville, residence. • forgery at a Daily Road, Homer, residence. •damage to property on Highway 15/441 south at Highway 164, Homer, where an auto mobile accident was reported. • theft by taking at an Old Highway 441 North, Alto, location. • prisoner transport from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Jefferson. •damage to a vehicle on Historic Homer Highway at Garrison Street, Homer. • dispute at a Currahee Drive residence. • dispute at a Currahee Drive residence. • lost tag at a Beulah Lane residence. •suspicious activity at Tugalo Construction, Highway 51 South, Homer, where an open gate was found. • trailer inspection at a Morris Gardiner Road residence. The responding deputy reported the vehicle identification number (VIN) was check and it returned all clear. The deputy reported all the lights on the trailer were in working order as well. • VIN verification at a Sims Harris Road resi dence. The responding officer reported the VIN returned clear with no stolen record. • theft by taking at a West County Line Road residence. • driving while driver’s license is suspended or revoked on Webbs Creek Road at Highway 441, Homer, where a traffic stop was performed. • property damage at a Hudson Valley Drive location. • animal complaint at a Neal Drive residence. •death investigation at a Lake Forest Drive residence. •verbal domestic dispute at a Deer Crest Drive residence. The complainant reported that she and her husband were arguing over finances. The responding deputy reported the husband agreed to leave for the night and the complainant was given information on Peace Place and Circle of Hope. The deputy reported all was O.K. when he left the residence. •verbal domestic dispute at a Rylee Road residence. The complainant reported that her husband was drunk and causing problems. The responding officer reported the male had calmed down and was in bed when he arrived and the complainant stated all was O.K. The officer reported he checked on the male and he stated he was O.K. and he wouldn’t cause any more trouble. The officer reported the complainant was advised of help that she could obtain, the husband and wife were separated within the residence and all was O.K. when he left the residence. • theft by taking at a Wynn Shoals Road resi dence. •suspicious vehicle at Campbell’s Store, Yonah-Homer Road. • theft by taking at a Highway 98 residence, where the complainant reported a garbage can missing. • animal complaint on Lord Road at Browns Bridge Road. • theft by shoplifting at Walmart, Highway 441 South, Commerce. • theft by shoplifting at Walmart, Highway 441 South, Commerce. • damage to property on McCoy Bridge Road at Sullivan Drive. • simple battery - FVA and reckless conduct at a Payne Road residence, where a domestic dispute was reported. •burglary alarm at a Louden Ridge Road residence. The responding deputy reported he checked all the doors and windows and all appeared secure and O.K. •terroristic threats and acts at a Grant Mill Road residence. • custody dispute at a Sunset Drive residence. •battery at Walmart, Highway 441 South, Commerce. •public drunkenness at Walmart, Highway 441 South, Commerce. The responding officer reported a female who was under the influence of prescription drugs was found in the parking lot. • possession of marijuana on Highway 15/441 south bound at Banks Road. During the period of Dec. 14-30, the Baldwin Police Department made one arrest and responded to a number of incidents. Arrested was: • Keandrie L.E. Jones, 22, failure to maintain lane and driving under the influence (DUI) - drugs. INCIDENTS The following incidents were reported: •failure to maintain lane and DUI - drugs on State Route 365 at Duncan Bridge Road, Baldwin, during a traffic stop. •burglary and theft by taking at Citizen’s Finance, Highway 441 Bypass, Baldwin. The complainant reported when she came in to work she noticed some papers strewn about the floor and she wanted the business cleared. The officer reported the cleared the business and found where forced entry was made on one of the two rear doors. The officer reported the office area of the business had been rum maged through. The complainant listed the value of the items taken at approximately $1,550. • burglary and theft by taking at a Highway 441 Bypass, Baldwin, business, where the complainant reported someone had forced their way in through the back door, entered the kitchen, and took a microwave, valued at $135; plasma TV, valued at $1,300; and a black box full of receipts, valued at $100. • theft by taking at Hasty Mart, Willingham Avenue, Baldwin, where the complainant reported someone driving a white Chevrolet 4-door truck pulling a camper had pumped $56 in fuel and drove off without paying for it. The responding officer reported he checked the area, but wasn’t able to locate the vehicle. WE WOULD LIKE TO WELCOME DR. In October 2011 he was appointed to the Board of directors of Georgia Health Science University Systems by Gov. Nathan Peal. He further gives back to his community by volunteering at the Mercy Pental Health Clinic in Athens to help meet the overwhelming needs of the underserved population. Pr.
