She weighed six pounds and 10 ounces and was 19 Vfe inches long. She joins a sister, Madison Grace Farmer. They live in Winder. She is the granddaughter of Greg and Kim Scales Crane of Homer and Ricky and Joyce Harrison of Center. Great- randparents are Phil and Barbara Scales of Homer, Ellen and James Parker of Commerce and Flora Garrett of Nicholson. Great- grandparents are Ruby Kellar, Glenn Falls N.C., Lamb Griffin, Lula, Hugh Praise Report: Chad Richardson’s cancer is in remission Thank God for this great news. • The community and host of chil dren who were part of the Pre-K/ Head start Program were saddened to hear of the death of Mrs. Carol “Pace” Denton who passed away last week. She leaves her husband, Tommy Denton, daughters, Kelly Denton Reynolds, and Heather Denton Moss, grandchildren, Kacey Reynolds, MaKayla Moss and Matthew Moss, mother, Irene Pace, brothers, John and David Pace, and sisters, Cathy Bruce and Barbara King. Please remember this family. Carol will be greatly missed. She was a friend to many. I was a part of the pace family for 10 years and Carol and her family have always consid ered me to still be a part of their fam ily. We love you Carol and will miss you greatly. Remember this family in your prayers. • The community was saddened to hear and our prayers go out to the family of Barry Lane “Foot” Forrester who passed away recently. He was a lifetime member of our community. He leaves his parents, Frank and Eva Mae Forrester, brother, John and Sherry, niece, Shelby, and a host of other family and friends. Keep this family in your prayers he will be greatly missed. Our prayers go out to the family of J.L. Martin of Lula who passed away last Thursday. He leaves five children and grandchildren and great-grand children host of other family and friends. I visited with the Martin’s a lot during my childhood. My sister, Carolyn, and Judy were best friends. Mr. Martin always worked at Shirley’s Feed and Seed in Commerce. He will be greatly missed. Our family had a great Christmas gathering at the home of Ruth Parson with family all around on Dec. 22. There were about 60 family members present. Mary Parson’s family gathered at her home on Christmas Eve with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ruth Parson was also present. A special prayer request for the next few weeks for Alex Strickland, the son of Tammy and Pete Harrison. Cornelia bridal show features 40 vendors If you are planning a wed ding in the near future, the Weddings Unveiled brid al show will offer a unique chance to view what’s avail able, according to organizers. The interactive bridal event will be held at The Community House at 601 Wyly Street in Cornelia from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 12. “This is an event all brides-to- be in 2013 will want to attend,” said Alan NeSmith, regional publisher of Community Newspapers, Inc. Program series set for small organic and naturally grown farms Northeast Georgia is home to many small farms that are using direct marketing and alternative production prac tices to market to local con sumers, retailers, and restau rants. The University of Georgia Cooperative Extension is hosting a series of programs to provide the latest research- based information to these producers. The dates, top ics, and registration dates are listed below. These programs are designed for small farm producers that are implementing organic or sustainably grown practices (not necessarily “certified” organic or naturally grown) on their farms. All programs will be held at the J. Phil Campbell Research and Education Center in Watkinsville and will start with a meal at 5:30 p.m. Cost for registration is $15 per session or $40 for all four programs. • January 29: Organic Insect and Disease Control in Fruits and Vegetables (Register by Jan. 18). •February 12: Food Safety for Small Farms (Register by Jan. 18th or Feb. 4). •February 19: Small Farm Grazing Management (Register by Jan. 18th or Feb. 11). •March 5: Profitable Marketing for Small Farms (Register by Jan. 18th or Feb. 25).
