Photos by Randy Crump Girls win over Oglethorpe, while boys team stumbles BY RANDY CRUMP The Banks County High School track team posted a girls win over Oglethorpe 59-54 and a boys loss 46-83 at Oglethorpe in a dual meet. Francisco Hurtado finished in first place with a time of 5:13 in the boys 1600 Meter Run. Andrew Elliott took first place in the boys 3200 Meter Run with a time of 11:34. Elliott also took first in the boys 800 Meter run at 2:20 and teammate Beau rush took second place with a time of 2:28. Ryan Seabolt placed third in the boys high jump clearing the bar at five feet and two inches. In the boys long jump, the Leopards Greg Cannon placed second at 18 feet three and a half inches. BCHS had two teams place in the Boys 4x100 Meter Relay. The team members placing in second with a time of 46.9 seconds were Eli Smallwood, Logan Hubbard. Ryan Seabolt and Greg Cannon. Team members placing third with a time of 48 seconds were Daniel Jarrell, Kevin Mayfield, Malcolm Mitchell and Rayshawn Hunter. The Leopards had two teams place in the Boys 4x400 Meter Relay. The team members placing in first with a time of 3:52 were Francisco Hurtado, Ryan Seabolt, Will Griffin and Greg Cannon. Team members placing third with a time of 4:02 were Beau Rush, Todd McClure, Logan Hubbard and Malcolm Mitchell. Ryan Seabolt placed first in the Boys 100 Meter Dash with a time of 11.9 sec onds. Greg Cannon edged out Ryan Seabolt for first place by one tenth of a second in the Boys 200 Meter Dash 24.1 seconds to 24.2 seconds. In the Boys 400 Meter Dash Greg Cannon finished in first place with a time of 53.7 seconds. Malcolm Mitchell finished in third place at 57.7 seconds. In the girls competition, Carli Broome took first place in the Girls 1600 Meter Run finishing with a time of 6:17. Makayla Hewell took first place in the Girls 3200 Meter Run with a time of 12:32. Two Lady Leopards finished in the top spots in the Girls 800 Meter Run. Carli Broome in first place with a time of 2:53 and Jaylyn Lack at second place with a time of 3:03. Taylor Kennedy placed third in the Girls High Jump clearing the bar at four feet and two inches. In the Girls Long Jump the Lady Leopards Savannah Blalock placed third at 12 feet and six inches. Savannah Blalock placed second in the Girls 100 Meter Dash with a time of 14.8 seconds. Mallory Parson finished in third place with a time of 15.3 seconds. The Lady Leopards finished one, two, three in the Girls 200 Meter Dash. Taylor Kennedy finished in first at 30 seconds, Savannah Blalock finished second at 31.3 seconds and Abby Parks finished third at 32.2 seconds. In the Girls 400 Meter Dash Taylor Kennedy finished in first place with a time of 1:10. Jaylyn Lack finished in second place at 1:13. Lindsey Elliott threw to a first place fin ish in the Girls Discus at 81 feet 10 inches Tori Smallwood finished in second place at 80 feet four inches. Paige Mathis placed first in the Girls Shot Put hurling the shot 25 feet five inches. The Leopards will have two more regu lar meets this week at Dawson County on Tuesday and West Hall on Thursday before heading to region meets later this month.
