This was a crucial match for the Leopards because it would determine where the team finds themselves when it comes region tournament time. Lauren Carter started the team off to a great start. She proved to be as consistent and dependable as she has been all year, dismissing her opponent 7-5, 6-3. Number two single Leia Rylee and number three single Kaelan Standridge played tough matches while dealing with some minor inju ries due to a busy schedule the last couple of weeks. They both played very well, but it was not enough to overcome their West Hall oppo nents. This left the overall score 1-2 in favor of West Hall. Taylor Mullins and Haley Hill played like the doubles veterans they are, winning 6-3, 6-0 against a good West Hall team. “I am excited to see what these two girls can accomplish come region tournament time,” said Head Coach William Foster. In the last, and longest match of the day, Bree Harris and Shelby Turpin overcame the cold weather and the tough competition to outlast their opponents in a third set tiebreaker win after a three and a half hour match. BUFORD The next day, the Lady Leopards traveled to Buford to take on the Lady Wolves. “The Lady Leopards all played very well, and as a coach I was very proud of their effort against a very talented Buford team,” Coach Foster said. “Buford won 0-5, but the score does not reflect the great play by the Leopards on that day.” EAST JACKSON And to end the week the Lady Leopards head ed down the road to East Jackson. The Leopards played confidently and aggressively easily win ning all their matches on that day. The Lady Leopards did not even drop one set. This was a good way to head into Spring Break, and a good win before the upcoming region tournament. Lauren Carter finished her region schedule with only one loss this season, which came from Buford. “I am very proud of her performance this year and the way she has lead the team with her great play,” Coach Foster said. “The girls have finished their season as the number three team in region 7- AAA. They have played great against some very good teams, and I feel very good about our chances in the upcoming region tournament. We have one more match against Johnson at home next Thursday. It should be a good match to end the regular season on and recognize our seniors.” “Our boys played hard and held their heads high. It was a good learning experience playing a team as good as Buford is this year.” Head Coach Jim McKinney
