WEDNESDAY, APRIL 10, 201 3 THE BANKS COUNTY NEWS PACE 5A Crime BANKS INCIDENTS Stalking among crimes Posting address makes city safer The Banks County Sheriff’s Office responded to the report of aggravated stalking at Dollar Tree, Banks Crossing Drive, Commerce, during the past week. The female complainant reported she met her hus band, who she has an active temporary protective order against, at Dollar Tree to pick up her daughter. The com plainant stated her husband refused to give her the child and when she went inside the store he followed her inside. The complainant reported her husband followed her around the store for a few minutes and then he placed the child in her shopping cart. The female said they had a conversation in reference to his next visit and he got made and left the store. OTHER INCIDENTS Other incidents reported during the past week include: •suspicious activity at a Trotters Glen, Baldwin, resi dence, where a burglary in progress was reported. The responding deputy reported he made contact with a male and female who were mov ing items into the residence so they could stay there due to recent thefts at the home of the female’s parents. The complainant stated she believed the residence was foreclosed and nobody was supposed to be there. The female provided paperwork from a property company with her parent’s names listed stat ing that a key was mailed for the residence. The respond ing officer reported he contact the property company who then contacted the mortgage company. The officer reported the property company advised the female needed to have her parents contact the mortgage company and have her listed as a third party to be allowed in the residence with proper paperwork. •traffic stop on Hembree Road at McDonald Circle, Homer, where the driver of a 1995 Ford F-150 truck was stopped due to no tag being displayed on the vehicle. • criminal trespass at Dollar General, Evans Street, Homer. The complainant reported a female who had been told not to return to the store had returned. The complainant stated when the female left the store she laughed at the complainant and “gave her the finger.” •miscellaneous incident at VP Racing Fuel, Outlet Drive, Commerce. A BCSO officer reported he got his 2010 Ford Crown Victoria patrol unit stuck as he attempted to turn around on Outlet Drive. • medical call at an Antioch Road, Lula, residence, where a possible overdose was reported. The complainant reported he son and his girl friend left her residence to go to the store, returned a short time later and her son was visibly upset and crying. The complainant stated she asked her son what was wrong and he said he didn’t know, but something was wrong with his girlfriend. The complainant stated that the girlfriend’s body was jerking and she would not respond when talked to. The female was transported to Habersham Medical Center for treatment. •possible child abuse at Fairfield Inn, Frontage Road, Commerce. The complainant reported her 5-year-old daugh ter had bruises on both of her legs and some scratches on the lower part of her back. The complainant stated her ex-husband has joint custody of their two daughters. The responding deputy reported he spoke to the 5-year-old about the bruises and she stat ed “her daddy whooped her with his hands.” •miscellaneous on Apple Pie Ridge Road at Apple Valley Lane, Alto, where a suspicious vehicle was reported. The responding officer reported while he was in route to the location Banks County 9-1-1 Dispatch had been advised by a second called that a dispute was occurring at this loca tion and one of the people, a 23-year-old male who might have active warrants out of Habersham County, ran into the woods possibly with a gun. The female complainant reported the 23-year-old male stole her debit card and a war rant was taken in Habersham County. The complainant reported her, her husband and the 23-year-old male’s brother, were following the vehicle with the 23-year-old inside when the vehicle pulled over and the 23-year-old male jumped out of the passenger side of the vehicle and ran through the woods leaving a female and a small child in the vehicle. The 23-year-old male was later picked up at a BP Station in Baldwin. • disorderly conduct at a Historic Homer Highway, Homer, residence, where a verbal dispute was reported. The complainant reported people were arguing at the residence. A male at the resi dence advised the respond ing deputy that he and his girlfriend had been in a verbal argument. •hit and run duty of the driver to stop at or return to the scene of an accident at The Home Depot, Steven B. Tanger Boulevard, Commerce. The complainant reported someone struck his parked 2002 Chevrolet 1500 truck while he was inside The Home Depot. The complain ant stated a note was left on his truck by the person driving the other vehicle stating “it did more damage to my car, but that line can be buffed out again.” The complain ant reported scratches on the driver’s side rear fender of his truck. • disorderly conduct at a Mountain Creek Drive, Maysville, residence. A female reported she had a writ of pos session for the residence and she gave the renters extra time to move out. The female’s husband stated he went by the residence and the renters had a truck pulled up to the residence and they were load ing it with their belongings. The responding officer report ed he advised the female and her husband to contact Banks County’s civil division on Monday, due to limited deputies on the weekend and the amount of time it would take, so that a deputy could stand by and have the renters removed. The officer reported the male was understanding of the situation, but the female stated she was going to the residence and taking every thing out herself. The officer reported the female raised her voice and became irate and would not calm down. •suspicious vehicle at a Webbs Creek Road, Homer, residence. The responding deputy reported he spoke with a female at the residence who advised she was at this residence to take care of a dog that was staying there. The deputy reported he observed a large white dog that was in very bad health. The deputy reported the dog was emaci ated, appeared to have tumors protruding from its body, had a leg that was rotting, and was in extreme pain and suffer ing. The deputy reported he deployed his firearm a placed one round in the dog’s cranial volt to end its suffering. •warrant service at a Russ Rumsey Road, Maysville, resi dence. • failure to comply with a court order at a Stonepile Street, Baldwin, residence, where a male was arrested on a Banks County child support warrant. •animal cruelty at a Union Hill Road, Homer, residence. The complainant reported his pig that he had been raising for meat was shot in the left rear hindquarter. The com plainant stated that over the past few months animals all along his road had been shot with a small caliber round. The complainant stated he had expensive horses that he was concerned about. The complainant stated he had a pretty good idea of who shot the pig, but he didn’t want to provide any names due to him not knowing for sure. •probation violation at a Hardwick Drive, Alto, resi dence. •child molestation at an Old Highway 441 North, Alto, residence. The complainant reported child molestation against her grandson. The complainant stated her daugh ter and her grandson had moved to Louisiana to escape abuse from a male. • probation violation on Highway 63 at Sunshine Church Road, Carnesville, where a deputy was flagged down by a 25-year-old male. •sale of a schedule 1 or II controlled substance at a Loggins Lane, Commerce, residence. According to the report a 54-year-old male sold a quantity of Roxicodone 30mg for $20 to an undercover officer. • aggressive driving on Highway 15/441 at Interstate 85, Commerce. The female complainant reported she and a friend were followed by another vehicle driving reck lessly as they left Walmart. • simple battery at a Queen Road, Gillsville, residence, where a domestic dispute was reported. The female complainant reported that her cousin and her mom came to her residence and stopped in the road and began throw ing clothing items out of the car and cursing at the com plainant and her husband. The complainant reported the mom pushed the complainant and then the cousin jumped in knocking the complainant to the ground. The complainant stated he began pulling her cousin’s hair in an attempt to get her off of her. •obstructing or hindering a law enforcement officer at a Nix Road, Alto, residence, where an officer responded to assist Habersham County’s Criminal Investigation Division with serving a warrant. • recovered property on Highway 441 at Moss Farm Road, Homer, where a brown leather purse was found with identification on a female liv ing in either Danielsville or Gainesville. •simple battery - family violence act at a Lake Forrest Drive, Commerce, residence, where a domestic dispute was reported. The complainant reported he and his wife had gotten into an argument and she began pushing him and pulled out a steak knife threat ening him with it. The com plainant stated he was able to hold his wife and get her to drop the knife and he left the residence. The deputy who interviewed the wife reported that the wife stated nothing had been happening at the residence. Both parties agreed to separate for the evening. •hit and run duty of the driver to stop at or return to the scene of an accident and driving while driver’s license is suspended or revoked on Highway 441 at English Road, Homer, where a traffic stop was initiated on the driver of a 2004 Ford Explorer Sport Trac. • criminal trespass at a Daily Road, Alto, residence. The complainant reported she was in her room watching the news when her dog started barking. The complainant stat ed the dog kept barking so she decided to see what was going on and when she looked out her kitchen window she saw someone wearing baggy beige pants and a black “hoodie” standing by her car looking in the window and it looked like they had something in their hands. The complain ant stated she started beating on her window to see if she knew the person, then she went into her room to get the phone to call 9-1-1 and when she returned the person was gone. The responding officer reported he checked the com plainant’s car, but didn’t see any signs that it had been tampered with. The officer reported he checked the area, but didn’t find anyone match ing the description given by the complainant. • driving while driver’s license is suspended or The Banks County E-911 Center is providing informa tion to citizens on correctly posting addresses in order to be better served. “We are requesting that you take a moment to make sure your 911 numbers are posted and are clearly visible from the roadway,” EMA/911 direc tor Deidra Moore said. “The importance of having your 911 numbers posted cannot be emphasized enough. If your numbers are not posted, it could create a delay in emer gency responders locating your residence. By posting your numbers, you can be assured that there will be no delay in response due to not being able to locate your resi dence quickly.” Guidelines to follow in posting 911 addresses include the following: •The numbers should be at least three inches tall. •The numbers should be The Banks County Sheriff’s Office responded to a one-vehicle on Industrial Boulevard at Industrial Drive on April 2. reflective. •The numbers should be posted on a contrasting back ground. •The numbers should be posed at the end of the drive way. •If there are several resi dences or structures sharing a driveway, all of the numbers should be posted at the end of the driveway and the indi vidual numbers should also be posted in front of each residence or structure. Citizens may purchase the completed E-911 num ber sign at the Banks County Planning Office, located at the Courthouse Annex, 150 Hudson Ridge, Homer. The cost is $16.50, which includes the post, bolt, sign plate and numbers. At time of purchase, the sign will be completely prepared and ready to post.
