She was born in Jackson County, the daughter of the late Tom P. and Zipporah Hayes Davis and was one of 13 children. Mrs. Alexander loved children, having seven of her own, and was the owner of Pansy’s Daycare for 52 years, the first licensed daycare in Jackson County. Thousands of children were under her loving care. She was a member of the Jefferson First United Methodist Church. Mrs. Alexander was pre ceded in death by her husband, J.B. “Dutch” Alexander; four sons, Charles Fleeman, Timothy Fleeman, Jimmy Fleeman and Byron Alexander; a grandson, Chuck Fleeman; five sisters, Ruth Carnell, Mary Lou McDonald, Ellen Perry. Beth Wages, and Merle Snider; and six broth ers, Malvin Davis, John Davis, George Davis, Hayes Davis, Ed Davis, and Jim Davis. A native of Athens, she was the daugh ter of the late George Buford Dixon and Lillian Dillard Dixon. The old est of five children, her sib lings include Frank E. Dixon of Augusta, and the late LaRue Carter, Billy Dixon, and Vickie Mauldin. She worked for near ly 25 years at SunTrust Bank in Athens. She was a member of Berea Baptist Church in Commerce, where she partici pated in the choir. Survivors include her hus band of 42 years, Willard Daniel (Buzzie) Blalock; a son, Andy Hoyt Blalock, Colbert; daughter, LeAnne Blalock DeFrancesco, Alexandria, Va.; and four grand children, Andrew Blalock, Arnoldsville, Alexis Krause, Winterville, and Robby and Emma DeFrancesco, Alexandria, Va. Mrs. Camp was a retired book keeper, was employed by First Baptist Church of Jefferson, and MainStreet Newspapers but her greatest career was assisting in raising her grandchildren. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Commerce. Mrs. Camp was preceded in death by her husband, D.C. Camp; a sister, Hazel Wimberly; and two broth ers, Edward Kelley and Elliott Kelley. (19078) Dr. Robert ‘Bruce’Hollett WITS END, ATHENS Dr. Robert Bruce Hollett, 66, resident of Wits End, Athens, passed away of pancre atic cancer on Tuesday, April 23, 2013. Bruce, as he was known to his family and friends, and Dr. Hollett, as he was known in his profession of being a Professor of Veterinary Medicine at the Vet School of The University of Georgia since 1989, earned his BS degree in Animal Husbandry from Virginia Polytechnic Institute (VPI), Blacksburg, Va. in 1968, his DVM from UGA in 1972, and his MS in Pharmacology from Purdue University in 1974. Bruce was the veterinarian for Arthur Hancock's Stone Farm Thoroughbred Racing in Paris, Ky. from 1981-1985, during the reign of the Kentucky Derby winner, Gato Del Sol. He then returned to UGA to join the facul ty of the Vet School for the rest of his illustrious and lengthy career. He served as the head of continu ing education for the Vet School for 21 years as well as served as the Executive Committee Chair on the University Council for 2008-2009. He received numer ous awards including the Charles N. Dobbins Service Award in 2004, A.M. Mills Award in 2002, Distinguished Service Award from the American Association of Equine Practitioners in 2000, and was a founding charter officer for the Georgia Equine Practitioners Association. In 2001 he began working with UGA’s line of mascots and became the Ugas’ personal veter inarian in the ensuing years. The Seiler family of Savannah, who own the Uga line, even named one bulldog for Hollett. “Big Bad Bruce” was Uga VIII, serving for part of the 2010 football season before an untimely death. Survivors include his wife, Mary Elizabeth “Libby” Weaver Hollett; four children, Mary Elyse Hollett Giles (Dr. Douglas, D.C.), Andrea Hollett DeCook (Dr. Charles, MD), Robert Bruce Hollett, Jr., Beau, (Leah), and Todd Hollett; and his beloved 13 grandchildren; two older broth ers, RADM. Grant T. Hollett, Jr., 70, (Lynn), Ocean Isle Beach, N.C., and John Stewart Hollett, 67, (Trink) of Jacksonville, Fla. He is preceded in death by both his father, Grant T.
