WEDNESDAY, MAY 1, 201 3 THE BANKS COUNTY NEWS PACE 3B Basketball players honored at annual banquet TEAM MEMBERS NAMED The Jonah Thomas Charge Award went to Graham White, left, and 7AAA Honorable Mention All Region award went to Austin Venable, center, and the Leopard Award went to Zac Orr. The basketball program at Banks County High School held its annual awards banquet at Grove Level Church in Maysville on April 18. All the student ath letes were recognized for their hard work and contributions to the team this season. Coach Mike Cleveland gave out several special awards including the Leopard Award to Zac Orr and the Jonah Thomas Charge Award to Graham White. Austin Venable was recognized as the 7AAA Honorable Mention All Region Athlete. Scholar Athletes (4.0 aver age) Will Ledford, Gatlin Boswell and Isaiah Smith were given tro phies for maintaining high scho lastic achievement during the school year. The senior players Greg Canon, Montana Kennedy, Bobby Morgan and Ryan Seabolt received certificates and a special action photo from a game pho tographed by Randy Crump of crumpphoto.com. Manager Awards were given to Kolby Merck, Jack Gale, Bailey Smith, Kaitlyn Poole and Head Manager Kandy Parks. “A special thanks to all of the parents that worked really hard to make the banquet happen,” said Coach Mike Cleveland. Athletic director and varsity girls head basketball coach Jerry King gave awards to All Region 7AAA First Team: Taylor Kennedy, All Region 7AAA Second Team: Kaitlyn Duncan, All Region 7AAA Honorable Mentions: Savannah Blalock HONORABLE MENTION Gainesville Times All Area Honorable Mention: Kaitlyn Duncan poses with Head Coach Jerry King. SENIORS RECOGNIZED Seniors Montana Kennedy and Bobby Morgan show off the certificates and action photos they received. Seniors Greg Cannon and Ryan Seabolt were not present for the banquet. SENIOR CHEERLEADERS Senior cheerleaders Megan Boling and Lauren Hill attend their final banquet as Co Captain Varsity Cheerleaders. Lauren Carter broke a school record for most three point shots made in a game, Brenna Parson earned the Purple Heart Award. Taylor Kennedy was the Scholar Athlete, McKenna Rylee was given the Senior Award and the Triple Threat Award was given to Mallory Parson, Jaylyn Lack, Taylor Kennedy, Haley Warner and Morgan Rylee. Sara Gardiner recognized the cheerleaders for their exemplary service to the team. Each mem ber received a certificate for the hard work they put in during the season.
