Senior Compound team The Banks County 4-H Senior Compound team won the state championship with a score of 1942 at the 4-H State Archery Tournament held this past weekend in Eatonton. Members of the state cham pionship team are Jonathan Clark shooting a 664, Ty Ewing shooting a 672, Massey Langford shooting a 606 and Alex Wiley shooting a 569. The Senior Compound team will advance to national competition in Nebraska this June 23-28. The team will be accompanied by coaches Ben Brown, Tim Fountain, Kevin Stephens, Chris Parr and Randy Edenfield. The 4-H State Archery Tournament was held this weekend at the Rock Eagle 4-H Center in Eatonton, Georgia. A total of 677 4-Hers from fifth through twelfth grades were on hand to compete for top hon ors in the shoot. The weekend was tough on the shooters as the rain and cold temperatures affected the scores overall dur ing the event. The contestants are bro ken into Cloverleaf (5th and 6th Grades), Junior (7th and 8th Grades) and Senior (9th through 12th Grades) classifi cations. Those three classifi cations are divided into nov ice, recurve and compound classes for the tournament. Cloverleaf Compound, Junior Recurve, Senior Compound and Recurve took the morning flight for the contest. Cloverleaf Novice, Cloverleaf Recurve and Junior Compound took the afternoon flight on two separate fields. Banks County 4-H fielded several teams in the com pound and recurve classes. On the second compound team for Banks County was Will Langford shooting 448, Beau Rush shooting 464 and Oliver Szatkowski shooting a 525 for a team total of 1437. The Senior recurve team placed second with a score of 656. Hunter Armour, Ellen Brown and Justin Benfield competed on the Senior recurve team.
