'Georgia Gold Series' to Banks County
From Watkinsville author
Denise Weimer and Canterbury
House Publishing, “The Crimson
Bloom,” book three of the
“Georgia Gold Series,” debuts
in local bookstores this spring.
Building on the mid-1800s action,
romance and mystery of books
one and two of the series released
in 2013, “Sautee Shadows” and
“The Gray Divide,” “The Crimson
Bloom” transports readers to the
coast and mountains of Civil War-
era Georgia. Readers can pick
up their copy of what James A.
Cox, editor-in-chief of Midwest
Reviews calls “a riveting interper
sonal drama” at The Bookstand
of Northeast Georgia.
With her husband Devereaux
Rousseau now a captain com
manding Savannah’s elite
Oglethorpe Light Infantry on the
Civil War battlefields of Virginia,
Carolyn Calhoun Rousseau must
prove her own backbone as she
operates the family’s last function
ing farm in the hills of Habersham
County. She draws on the sup
port of her best friend, Mahala
Franklin, half-Cherokee grand
daughter of a local inn owner.
Mahala battles her own frustra
tions with Jack Randall, rival
hotel owner and coastal ship
ping magnate. Jack’s continued
reluctance to commit threatens to
drive Mahala into the arms of her
Cherokee childhood sweetheart,
Clay Fraser. Then, tragedy brings
Mahala and Carolyn to Savannah
just as Sherman advances on the
city - and forces everyone to con
front their true feelings. Will Jack
abandon his ship and its prof
its to the Yankees in Wilmington
Harbor in order to guide them on
a perilous wagon journey across
Georgia, or will he abandon the
woman he claims to love, but
whom he now knows also has
feelings for another? And even
if Mahala reaches safety, could
her discovery about her father’s
long-ago murder and missing
gold prove far more dangerous
than the war?
The “Georgia Gold Series” was
inspired by the family letters and
diaries of beloved regional artist
John Kollock, who passed away
this March. His artwork designed
exclusively for the series graces
the covers of all four novels. The
cover of “The Crimson Bloom”
depicts Factor’s Row and the
Savannah riverfront. Book four,
“Bright as Gold,” which will
release September 1,2014, will fea
ture Pomona Hall of Clarkesville.
To reserve a copy of the novel,

Bookstand at 337 Pottery Factory
Drive in Commerce. “The
Crimson Bloom: Book Three of
the Georgia Gold Series” is avail
able nationally in bookstores and
online retailers by Canterbury
House Publishing, ISBN: 978-0-
9881897-4-4, trade soft cover,
$15.95. For more information
