Mr. Beck was born in Cor nelia, Ga., the son of the late WJ and Lillie Stevens Beck. Mr. Beck was a United States Marine Corp World War II veteran at Iwo Jima, a member of Madison Street Baptist Church, and a Gideon Inter national member for over 40 years. He was owner of Beck Tractor for 27 years. Mr. Beck was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Betty Wil banks Beck; brothers, Ernest and Lee Beck; and a sister, Mary Ledford. Survivors include his daugh ter, Beth McCook (Archie), Commerce; grandsons. Brad McCook (Suzanne) and Kevin McCook (Dawn), Commerce; great-grandchildren, Blake, Kaleb and Kyla McCook; step-great-grandchildren, Brian, Michael, and Emily Adler, and Chris Richey; and sister, Betty Ivie, Commerce. Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 18, at Madison Street Baptist Church with Dr. Larry Montgomery, Kevin McCook and Brad McCook officiating. Interment was at Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery. Dr. Ciraval was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., a son of the late Eugene and Marie Cira- valo. He was a graduate of the University of Georgia and worked with children at the Rutland Center in Athens until he retired. He was a member of several organizations. July 19, 2017 Christina Glaze ATHENS - Christina Char ity Glaze, 32, entered into DOUGLASVILLE, GA Miss Geneva Vernelle Hill, 93, passed away Thursday, July 13, 2017. She was born April 11, 1924, in Lula, Ga., the daugh ter of the late Mr. Charles Young Hill and Beulah Mae Watson Hill. She was of the Presbyterian denomination. She loved her family dear ly and was an avid Atlanta Braves fan. Miss Hill was preceded in death by her sis ter, Dessie Mae Payne; and brothers, Charles Emory Hill, Harrison Wiley Hill, and Max Ryland Hill. Survivors include several nieces and nephews; and sev eral great-nieces and great- nephews. Sheila Lindsey ARNOLDSVILLE, GA - Sheila Ellen Johnson Lind sey, 72, passed away at her residence on Tuesday, July 4, 2017. Born in 1944, Sheila grew up in Cony ers, Ga. She was married to Jimmy D. Lindsey of Covington on April 19, 1962. They celebrated their 55th wedding anni versary this year. She was preceded in death by her par ents, Willie James and Rosie Nell Johnson; sister, Shirley Maddox; brother, Arlen M. Johnson, Sr.; and niece, San dra Dobbs. Charles McGee BRASELTON Charles Thomas “Tom” McGee, 94, died Wednesday, July 12, 2017, at the Northeast Geor gia Medical Center-Braselton. Born in Lawrenceville, Ga., Mr. McGee had lived in Jack- son County for a number of years. He was the son of the late James H. Sr. and Susie Summer- our McGee. Mr. McGee served in the United States Army during World War II and the Korean War. He was retired from the University of Georgia, where he was a horticulturist. He also worked with the Soil Conservation Service and was the former cemetery sexton for Oconee Hill Cemetery in Athens. Mr. McGee was a member of the First Baptist Church of Law renceville. Survivors include his wife, Paula W. (12634-69.10) Jerre Ramlow AUBURN - Jerre Dell Mor gan Ramlow, 81, went to be with her Lord on Sat urday, July 1, 2017, after a lifetime of love and per- severance. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her throughout her life and ulti mately gave her peace. Jerre was bom to the late Thomas Byron Morgan and Eve Thomas Morgan, a physi cian and a nurse respectively, in Amarillo, Texas on July 16, 1935. As a young girl, she was immersed in the Christian community that would ulti mately become her lifelong support. She learned to play piano at an early age, and was an assistant for her father as an adolescent. Jerre was blessed with a large and loving family. She married her best friend and love of her life, James “Jim" Walter Ramlow, on November 28, 1953, in Bernalillo, N.M. Together they raised their four children with patience, discipline and humility. Jerre taught them to love and serve others, and encouraged them to seek the Lord. From the very beginning, she was deter mined to take her children to church and encouraged them to establish a personal rela tionship with God. Jerre was one to lead by example. She was kind and out-spoken, and always took the time to encourage others. She loved to spend time with her family, most especially to read books to her many great grandchildren. Her love for reading often motivated her to share a favorite book or author with other family members. She studied God’s word faith fully, always wanting to learn more about His promises. She is dearly missed by her loved ones, who celebrate the fact that she is at peace with her Creator. Survivors include her hus band, Jim; her sons. He was pre ceded in death by his wife, Faye Laverne Davis Smith. Mr. Smith was a retired security guard. He was of the Baptist denomination, living it each day by helping his fel low man with love, caring and by listening to them. David Phillips GRIFFIN - David Phillips, 53, passed away on Sunday, July 16, 2017, at his resi dence. David was born in Grif fin, on December 1, 1963. He was preceded in death by his mother, Pat Phillips. David graduated from Griffin High School in 1982. He attended the University of Georgia and graduated from Georgia State University with a Bach elor of Arts in 1989. David worked for Griffin Pawn Shop for several years before open ing his own successful business, Dave’s Guns & Guy Stuff. He was known across the region as a firearms expert and had appeared on the His tory Channel’s series “Tales of the Gun." David was a for mer member of both the Grif- fin-Spalding County Board of Education and Spalding County Board of Commis sioners. Sheriff Darrell Dix said, “He was more than just a friend to law enforcement and the community. There is no way of knowing how many lives Dave touched and how many folks still have homes, cars, and families together because of him. We have solved all the world’s prob lems and spent many hours telling stories at the gun shop. Please keep Michelle and the entire Phillips family in your prayers.
