He created this pottery piece from a folk leg end about a half chicken and half dragon creature who preys on children up North. “Aubrey’s Pottery Creations” were sold and displayed during the Historic Gillsville Fall Folk Pottery Show. Rachel Staggers of Peaches Pots sold her fall pottery wares during the Historic Gillsville Fall Folk Pottery Show. The event was held at Craven Pottery Inc. on Saturday, Oct. 7. Staggers is from Clarksville, and she has been a potter for 10 years. The Historic Gillsville Fall Folk Pottery Show was held on Saturday, Oct. 7, at Craven Pottery Inc. The event was hosted by Billy Joe Craven, Stanley Ferguson and Wayne Hewell and featured 34 potters. It was estimated that 250 visitors attend ed the show. Given that Bo Thompson’s wife Angela is a dentist he was inspired to create these mugs. “When my wife makes these mugs, the teeth are perfectly straight,” he said. “She even adds braces to some of them.” He has been a potter for 12 % years. He began turning as a hobby in 2011 after undergoing a kidney transplant. He and his wife reside in Social Circle. His pottery pieces were available during the Historic Gills ville Fall Folk Pottery Show. Pamela W. Craven (P.W. Craven) sold her folk-art paintings at the Historic Gillsville Fall Folk Pottery Show. Here she is shown with her ‘Folk Art Pottery’ painting which features jugs made by Billy Joe Craven, Savannah Craven and Bobby Ferguson. Known as the Front Porch Painter she said “due to glaucoma in both eyes, I find the outdoor light most import ant when painting art.” She is a native of Banks County and is the wife of Billy Joe Craven. Heather Elyse Head of Mud and Rust sold her unique pottery creations at the Historic Gillsville Fall Folk Pottery Show. She is from Lula. Her grandfather-in-law is Billy Joe Craven. Celena R. Holly is a junior at East Hall High School who was recently in a car accident. Despite having surgery to have his ankle rebuilt and his wrist pinned and plated the day before the pottery show he was still determined to attend the event to sell his wares and creations. He is a seventh-generation potter from Gillsville. His uncle is Stanley Ferguson. At 89 years old, Mary Ferguson, was the eldest potter to have her works on display. She has been crafting pottery for 71 years and she is known in the community for her ceramic “chicken women” figurines (shown below) which she has been hand building for 41 years.
