Volleyball: Lady Leopards named Area Runners-Up

The Lady Leopards volleyball team advanced to the area
tournament after securing the second seed in the 2A Re
gion 8 tournament this year.
The team traveled to Providence Christian Academy on
Saturday to play against first seed Providence Christian
and fourth seed East Jackson High School.
The Lady Leopards lost their first match to the Provi
dence Christian Lady Storm, but ended the day with a win
against the East Jackson Lady Eagles.
The Lady Leopards started the day off with another re
match against the Providence Christian Lady Storm. The
Lady Leopards have come close to beating Providence
Christian each time they have faced them this season, and
this match was no different.
“These girls showed tremendous determination and
heart in their performance this past Saturday,” school lead
ers state.
The team will host the first round of the state playoffs
at home.
The match was to place on Tuesday, October 17, at
5:30 p.m.
Special recognition goes to Lola Pruitt for being named
Player of the Year.
All Area Players include Bryanna Hernandez, Emmie
Chitwood, Bacey Ausburn. Lola Pruitt, Addison Hoard,
and Shae Britt.

Softball: Lady Leopards to host first game of state playoffs
The Lady Leopards ended
their final week of regularly
scheduled game play with a
knockout-game against the
East Jackson Eagles with
a final score of 23-5. The
Lady Leopards are official
ly the 2A Region 8 Champi
ons this year, and they will
advance to the Super Re
gional against the Redan
Lady Raiders this week.
The Lady Leopards
brought their A-game to the
Lady Eagles’ field on Tues
day for their final 2A Re
gion 8 match of the regular
season. According to Head
Coach Rhett Carroll, the
Lady Leopards had a com
bined 20 hits in the game,
and every player on the
team played bases Tuesday
night.
“The whole team played
exceptionally well against
East Jackson,” Coach Car
roll said. “I’m proud of the
girls for staying focused
after securing the region
and playing lights out that
night.”
This week, the Lady
Leopards will be the first
seed in the first round of
the Super Regionals, and
they will be hosting Re
dan High School, Walker
High School, and Haral
son County High School
on Wednesday, Oct. 18.
The Lady Leopards will be
playing against the Redan
High School Lady Raiders
at 1 p.m. The losers’ bracket
will begin at 5 p.m. on the
same night, and the win
ners’ bracket will begin at
7 p.m.
On Thursday, Oct. 19,
Super Regional games will
continue starting at 3 p.m.,
5 p.m., and 7 p.m., respec
tively.
