Leopards lose to Cherokee Bluff during first
round of Jackson EMC Tipoff Classic Tournament

The Leopards lost the
Cherokee Bluff Bears
during the first round of the
Jackson EMC Tipoff Clas
sic Tournament on Saturday
with a final score of 59-48.
The Leopards will move on
to the loser’s bracket and
will continue to play on
Monday.
The Leopards faced the
Bears on the corut and
played a neck-and-neck
game in the first half. Nei
ther team let the other get
ahead in the first half, tying
the score with 13-13. In the
second quarter, the Bears
pulled forward with a two
point lead of 23-21.
Kolby Watson spent
much of his time at the net
during the first half with
16 points collected by him
alone. Hunter Youngblood
also gained five points for
the Leopards with one two-
point shot and a three-point
er..
Dayden Rogers and Kol
by Watson were also busy
on defense with successful
rebounds, blocks, and steal
attempts between them.
Youngblood, Caden Wat
son, and Senior Aaron Scott
were also giving it their all
on the court.
The second half took a
turn when the two teams
returned to the corut. The
Bears pulled forward a little
more, leaving the Leopards
in a deficit of 11 points with
42-31. The fourth quarter
yielded the same result,
with an 11 point deficit
for the Leopards. The final
score was 59-48.
Caden Watson was at the
net a lot during the final
16 minutes with 11 points.
Three of his attempts were
successful three-pointers.
Scott and Youngblood fol
lowed close behind with
five points and six points,
respectively. Kolby Watson
and Rogers also contributed
on offense.
Defense was a collective
effort in the second half,
with rebound and block at
tempts from Antonio Gon
zalez, Kolby Watson, Caden
Watson, Scott, Rogers, and
Youngblood.
The Leopards will be
competing again at Jeffer
son High School for the
second round of the Jackson
EMC Tipoff Classic. The
Leopards will play on Mon
day, Nov. 20 alongside the
Lady Leopards.
The time is to be an
nounced. If they win on
Monday, they will compete
again in the final round on
Tuesday, Nov. 21.

Lady Leopards fall to Calhoun during first round of tournament

The Lady Leopards lost
to the Calhoun High School
Lady Yellow Jackets during
the first round of the Jack-
son EMC Tipoff Classic
Tournament on Saturday
with a final score of 43-24.
The Lady Leopards will
move on to the loser’s
bracket and will continue to
play on Monday.
The Lady Leopards faced
the Lady Yellow Jackets on
the court and kept Calhoun
on their toes throughout the
first half.
The first quarter ended
with a deficit of five points
for the team with a score
of 12-7. During the second
eight minutes, the Leopards
and the Yellow Jackets were
neck-and-neck, ending the
half with 19-16 in favor of
Calhoun.
Reese Murphy was able
to collect the most points
for the team in the first half
with six points, followed by
Senior Carley Segars with
five points. Ryleigh Murphy
was successful in her three-
point attempt, and Ella Kate
Shedd earned two points for
the Lady Leopards.
Reese Murphy and Shedd
were also very active during
their time on defense, over
whelming the Lady Yel
low Jackets with rebounds,
steals, and blocks.

The second half proved
to be more of a challenge
for the Lady Leopards af
ter both teams paused the
gameplay for halftime.
The Lady Leopards were
only able to gain two extra
points during the third quar
ter, with a score of 28-18 in
favor of Calhoun.
The fourth quarter proved
to be a definitive win for
Calhoun after their of
fense kicked their efforts
into overdrive. The Lady
Leopards ended up with a
19 point deficit with a final
score of 43-24.
Segars was busy on of
fense with the most points
earned in the second quarter,
earning a total of six points.
Marleigh Dale followed be
hind with two points earned.
Efforts on the Lady Leop
ards’ side were spread out
during defense. Reese Mur
phy, Emmie Chitwood, and
Dale were especially ac
tive, giving their all to steal,
block, and rebound the
ball.
The Lady Leopards trav
eled back to Jefferson High
School to compete in the
next round of the Jackson
EMC Tipoff Classic.
On Monday, Nov. 20,
their game was scheduled
for 9 a.m. If they win that
game, they will advance on
Tuesday, Nov. 21.
