Carol Dolores “Doodle” Potts
JEFFERSON — Carol Dolores “Doodle” Potts, 85,
Jefferson, entered rest Saturday, November 18,2023.
Mrs. Potts was bom in
Winder, the daughter of
the late William Glenn
Simmons and the late Fou
Rea Casper Simmons.
In addition to her par
ents, she was preceded
in death by her husband,
Myron Roger Potts; sis
ter, Jeanette Wilson; and a
brother, James Simmons.
Mrs. Potts was a home
maker and attended Thy-
atira Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include two sons, Dwayne Potts (Teresa),
Jefferson, and Roger Glenn Potts, Atlanta; and one
grandchild, Ashley Young (Jake), Madison County.
In accordance with Mrs. Potts wishes, she will be cre
mated and a private family service will be held at a later
date.

STATHAM — Patty J. Sims, 50, Statham, passed
away on Friday, October 27, 2023.
She was a graduate of
Oconee County High
School. Patty was a faith
ful member of Corner
stone Christian Church.
She loved everyone and
never met a stranger. She
enjoyed shopping, travel
ing and playing games on
her tablet. Patty loved her
cats, Smokey and Allie.
Patty is survived by her
parents, Donald Sims,
Hull, and Debbie and Hal
Tapp, Winder; her children, David Clem, Winder, and
Rachel Clem, Statham; brother, Jason (Deanne) Sims,
Hartwell; step-sister, Debra (Scott) Cox, Warner Rob
ins; niece, Abigail Boykin; and nephew, Harper Sims.
Funeral service: Tuesday, October 31,2023, at 2 p.m.
in Smith Memory Chapel, 755 Atlanta Hwy. SE, Wind
er, with the Rev. Hal Tapp officiating. The burial to fol
low at Oconee Memorial Park in Watkinsville.

Thomas “Tommy” Franklin Slater
COMMERCE — Thomas “Tommy” Franklin
Slater, 56, Commerce, passed away on Thursday,
November 9, 2023.
Born on November
10, 1966, in Commerce,
Mr. Slater was the son
of Clifford F. Slater and
the late Delores McCoy
Slater. He was a con
struction worker with
Slater Construction, a
member of Commerce
Church of God, and was
preceded in death by a
brother, Randy “Pickle”
Slater; and a sister, Tam
my Slater.
In addition to his father, Clifford F. Slater, he is
survived by a son, Randy Cole Slater; daughters,
Chelsea Slater (Jake Morris) and Jessica Swing;
best-friend, Allison Watson; and two grandchildren.
Funeral service: Monday, November 13, 2023, at
2 p.m. in the Ivie Funeral Home Chapel with the
Revs. Gary Thompson and Douglas Duncan and
John Massey officiating. Burial will follow in the
Cabin Creek Cemetery.
Family to receive friends: Sunday, November i2,
2023, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Theresa “Rese” Richardson Pipkin Tiller
COMMERCE — Theresa “Rese” Richardson Pip
kin Tiller, 75, Commerce, passed away peacefully
Monday, November 13, 2023.
Rese was the daughter of the late Theresa Fee Pipkin
and Theron Richardson Pipkin of Georgetown, South
Carolina. She attended Vardell Hall in Red Springs,
North Carolina, graduated from Greensboro College
with a BA degree in Special Education and received a
M.Ed. Degree in Special Education from the Universi
ty of South Carolina.
Rese taught ortheopedically impaired and medical
ly fragile children at Whitten Center, Clinton, South
Carolina, and then she then taught ortheopedically
impaired children for Clarke County Schools, Athens,
until her retirement.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in
death by her husband, Dr. Joseph Anthony Tiller.
Mrs. Tiller was a member of the Commerce First
United Methodist Church, Commerce, where she was
a member of Circle III; in addition, Rese was also a
member of the James Pittman Chapter, Daughters of
the American Revolution.
Rese is survived by her son, Joseph Christopher
“Chris” Tiller (Elisabeth), Peachtree City; her daugh
ter, Amelia Tiller Williams (Rick), Charleston, South
Carolina; grandchildren, Thea Elizabeth Williams and
Emma Claire Williams, Charleston, South Carolina,
and Charlotte Anne Tiller and Joseph Edward Tiller,
Peachtree City; and cousins, Jean Holland George
town, South Carolina, Marguerite Assey, Columbia,
South Carolina, and Josephine Brunoski, Ho-Ho Kus,
New Jersey.
Funeral service: Friday, November 17, 2023, at
11 a.m. at the Commerce First Untied Methodist
Church with the Rev. Joshua Carr officiating. The in
terment will be held at M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veteran
Cemetery in Anderson, South Carolina, on Monday,
November 27, 2023.
Family to receive friends: Thursday, November 16,
2023, from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the
Commerce First United Methodist Church, Com
merce, Ga., in Mrs. Tiller’s memory.
Fittle-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, is in charge
of arrangements.
