BCHS wrestlers take first in Stephens County tournament
The Banks County High
School wrestling team com
peted in a tournament in
Stephens County over the
weekend, winning the Ar
rowhead Classic, which had
14 teams competing.
Kiera Gilkes became
Banks County’s first-ev
er varsity girls tournament
champion.

Leopards win 3 back-to-back games

The Banks County Leop
ards basketball team won all
three of their away games
last week after going against
Prince Avenue Christian,
Commerce, and Lakeview
Academy.
This week, the Leopards
will be participating in the
Jaemor Jingle Jam Tourna
ment at home on Thursday,
Dec. 21, and Friday, Dec.
22. On Thursday, the Leop
ards will compete against
the West-Oak Warriors at
8:30 p.m. following the
Lady Leopards’ game.
LAST WEEK
On Tuesday, the Leopards
won against Prince Ave
nue Christian with a score
of 59-37. They traveled to
Commerce on Friday to de
fend their first win a couple
weeks earlier, and succeed
ed with a score of 71-34.
On Saturday, the boys trav
eled to the Buford Arena
for the boys AP Showcase.
There, they had a morning
match against the Lakeview
Academy Lions, and they
emerged triumphant with a
close score of 67-64.
Against Providence
Christian, Senior Aaron
Scott collected the most
points for the team with 18
total, followed by Dayden
Rogers with 11 points and
Hunter Youngblood with 10
points. Rogers also collect
ed the most three-pointers
of the match with three suc
cessful attempts.
Caden Watson led the of
fensive effort with five as
sists and four steals, while
Kolby Watson, Youngblood,
and Rogers led on defense.
During their rematch
against the Commerce Ti
gers, Scott repeated his of
fensive success at the basket
with 18 points earned, fol
lowed by Luke Dale with 12
points.
Scott also led on offense
with eight assists and five
steals. Antonio Gonzalez
led the Leopards in defense
with seven total rebounds
and two blocks. Dale, Rog
ers, and Kolby Watson were
also active on defense.
At the AP Showcase,
the Leopards were pitted
against the Lakeview Acad
emy Lions. The resulting
cat fight almost ended in a
tie, but the Leopards were
able to pull through with a
three point surplus of 67-64.
Dale was the offensive
leader at the net with 22
points total, followed by
Rogers with 16 points and
Youngblood with 10 points.
Dale made the majority of
his points from six success
ful three-point attempts, as
did Rogers with four suc
cessful attempts.
Scott once again led in
assists and steals for the
Leopards with six assists
and two steals, as well as
Caden Watson, who also
performed two steals and
one block. Dale and Rogers
had the most rebounds on
the team with four each, and
Gonzalez also performed
two steals for the Leopards.
