Teresita “Terrie" Lacson Lampe
DANIELSVILLE — Teresita “Terrie” Lacson
Lampe passed peacefully into the arms of God on
Saturday, June 1, 2024, in Danielsville.
Terrie was, first and foremost, a child of God. She
was a wife to Wesley Lampe for 58 years, mother
to four, grandmother to 12, great-grandmother to 10,
and retired from Georgia State as Professor Emerita
of Chemistry.
Terrie was the youngest of 13 children bom to fa
ther Emiliano Lacson and mother Concepcion Ra
mos Lacson in 1936. She was bom near Kabankalan
City in the Philippines and spent many of her young
er years avoiding the Japanese patrols and war planes
of World War II. Seven of her brothers died before
she can remember.
Terrie excelled in school at an early age and was
given a scholarship to study science. Terrie’s father
was a Christian but, prior to the marriage, an agree
ment was made that all the children would be raised
in the Roman Catholic faith. Terrie always wondered
what was in that Bible that her dad read all the time.
When she left home, one of the first things that she
did was get a New Testament Bible and start reading
it. Four years later, she had completed her BS degree
from Adamson University with honors.
After Adamson, Terrie was offered a position at
Mass General Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts.
Within seven months of moving to the U.S.A., she
accepted Jesus as her savior and joined a local church
in Boston, Mass.
After two years at Mass General, Terrie moved
on to graduate studies at Wayne State University in
Detroit, Michigan. While at Wayne State, she met
the love of her life, a young Chrysler engineer from
East Detroit, Wesley Lampe. They married in 1965.
In 1966, Terrie completed her Masters and Phd of
Bio-Chemistry in a record time of 3.5 years.
After graduation, Wes and Terrie felt led to the
mission field and went to Italy with the missionary
group Operation Mobilization. They traveled across
Europe and had their first child in England. By 1969,
they were back in the States for their second son to be
bom. A daughter was bom in 1971 and the youngest
son in 1973.
Terrie stayed at home with the children until the
youngest graduated high school in 1991. At that time,
she went into teaching Chemistry, first at DeKalb
College and later at Georgia State. She was also very
active in her husband’s churches in Detroit, Lansing,
and later, Georgia. Terrie felt led to use her position
as a teacher to reach as many students as she could
with the gospel of Jesus. Many of the nurses trained
in Georgia went through courses that she either taught
or helped develop.
Terrie retired from teaching in 2010 and moved
to Danielsville. She was active at Riverside Baptist
Church in Madison County. She was blessed with
four children, 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grand
children.
Celebration of life details will be announced.
