WEDNESDAY, JUNE 25, 2025 BANKS COUNTY NEWS PAGE 7A Church News God’s word is alive When we open the word of God and reahze it is the living word of our Almighty FAther, and it is the most important word we will ever hear. John 1:1 tells us, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God.” If we look into Genesis 1 we see that God spoke everything into exis tence. Verse three tells us God said, “Let there be light and there was light.” Verse 9 tells us, “God said, ‘let the waters under the heaven be gathered together and let dry land ap pear,”’ and that’s exactly what hap pened. As the verses continue, “God said,” and plants and trees were created, “God said,” and the living things were formed in the waters; God spoke liv ing creatures into existence on the land and He spoke life into a man. This is evidence that the Word of God is powerful and is called a two edged sword. God can convict us when we do wrong, and He can en courage us to grow closer to Him and use our vessels to glorify Him. That’s when we begin to realize exactly what has been opened us for us to really live life. Do you know God’s word gives us the power to speak life and death? We should use God’s word to speak life into every situation that comes in our lives today, and we should rebuke the sherry lewis situations that come with chaos and trou ble. There may be times when we doubt God or question if He is willing to work things out for us. After all, we live with ourselves, and sometimes believe we don’t deserve it. Please keep in mind, when we receive the mercy and grace of God, He sees the blood of Jesus. The past is the past. We’ve asked for forgiveness and we are moving on in the name of Jesus. When in doubt, remember God has given everyone a measure of faith. Quote the verse, write it down, write it on the tablet of our hearts because it is God’s will that we have the faith to get things accomplished. God said, “If you have faith as small as a mustard seed nothing will be im possible for you,” in Matthew 17:20. Pray. Believe. Wait. God will an swer your prayer or give you some thing greater than you can conceive. “Thank you God for giving me the faith.” Let’s not sit back and say that it’s never going to happen. Let’s listen to ourselves; eliminate the negativity that comes into our minds and change our thinking. “Nothing is impossible with God.” Maybe we should yell it. “NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE WITH GOD.” Say it ten times or twenty; say it in the morning, the afternoon, and at night when the enemy throws fear at us to interrupt our sleep. God will save our children because nothing is impossible with God. God will make a way for us to pay our bills and live comfortably because nothing is impossible with God. You may wonder why I can sit here and make those statements. God an swers prayers according to His perfect will; it is His desire that no one should perish; it is His will that we don’t have to beg for bread. Today, my prayer for each of us is that we will use the most important tool we have. If I want to dig a ditch, I’m going to use a shovel or backhoe. If I’m going to wash my clothes, I’m going to put them in the washer rath er than take them to the river. So let’s grab God’s word and find a verse for our situation. The Bible is the greatest tool we will ever find for every situ ation. Psalms 119:105 sums up God’s message for us today. “Your word is a lamp unto my feet, a light unto my path, and I will hide its words in my heart, so I will not sin against Thee.” Sherry Lewis is a resident of Mays ville and worship leader at Water’s Edge Ministry, 4th Friday Night Pickin’ set for Friday,June 27 StonePath Church in Maysville will host its monthly 4th Friday Night Pickin’ on Friday, June 27, beginning at 6 p.m. The event will feature an open mic night for acoustic musicians and gospel singers, with Dugar Strickland serv ing as host.
