Attachment dismissed. Jeff htephans, colored, was charged with steeling a bog. Ho was found guilty and sentenced to tba chain gang for nmo months with a flue of $25 and costs, and in default of payment of said fine and coats, to be confined on the chain gang for twelve months. The case consumed the entiro forenoon and was ably argued on both sides. Bolicitor lteasa Crawford and 0. II. Williams, Esq., appearod for the State aud proweention, and W. F. Williams and T. W. Grimes, Esq*., for the defense. All made eloquent speeches. That of Mr. Grimes was greatly admired.
