We learn from the Chattanooga Timet that Henry L. Barnett, a young man, late of this oity, bnt more reoeutly of Hhreva port, La., was arrested in Uhattauooga few days ago on the arrival of the State Boad train on the authority of a telegram from the Chief of Police of Columbus. Barnett asked potioeman Beck, who had him in charge for safe koeping, to allow him to taka a walk, at elaven o’oloek night, down the street. While on this walk Barnatt escaped the officer, and is arid to have left the city,* leaving‘his bag. gage behind. The next day a telegram was reoeivsd from the Marshal of Colum bus dirootiug Barnett's release. Butuett'i aocount to the Chattanooga Marshal was that “his trouble was brought about by Mobile lawyer named Moses, who sought to black-mril him (Barnett) out of mousy unlawfully obtained by one Gray, on the sale of some cotton, and that Gray had left the Country and ia now in Texts. We eaw a letter from this gentleman yasterday, stating that he had taken oliarge of his duties aa general Southern Agent (Freight and Passenger) for the Baltimore A Ohio and tha Washington City, Virginia, Midland and Grant South- eru Railroads. Tha latter road attends from Washington City to Lynehbnrg, a distance of 178 miles, and will on the 1st proximo open 60 more miles, to Danville, Va. It ia controlled by the Baltimore A Ohio Railroad, and waa formerly known a* the Orange, Alexandria A Mannaaaas Railroad. Capt.
