TO OUR READERS.
For the first time in her history,
Brunswick now lias an oiuht page news
paper.
The averago reader does not fully
comprehend the difference of four pages,
hut there Is a vast difference inasmuch
as the size is doubled and amount of
reading matter treated the same way.
The expense of conducting tho Times-
Call is in tli a neighborhood of oue
thousand dollars per mouth, hut wo
nave faith iu the people of our fair lit
tle city, aud believe that we can depend
upon them to support tho enlarged pap
er because it is to their interest to do
so.
Heraember oveiy dollar we get is paid
to Brunswick workmen and tlioy in
turn pay it to Brunswick merchants.
The money which you pay us remains
light hero at home, supports home in
dustiiesand homo business men.
We have no political strings tied to us,
and therefore are free to discuss publio
questions iu a non-par',isan ntauuer. It
a public officer should be commended,
we aro the very folks to tell the people
of hie tvortli aud if lie needs criticising
the taxpayers of the community can
rest assured that his short comings will
be made public through the Times-
Call.
The la'k of anew hotel on Ist. Sim n
started when the first house was burned
aud we believe that there will really be
another erected when we see the frame*
workup. In the meantime here is a
chance for a fine investment.
Deaths from heat are reported from
many of the northern cities wljilo us
folks down here are very warm, but ne

A JUST VERDICT.
Mr. Iloodenpyle was acquitted by the
city court yesterday, and there is no
doubt but that everyone of the gentle
men who were arrested on warrants
sworn out by Mr. Krauss will get like
verdicts.
The jurors of this county are not nars
row minded, and that being the case
nothing but a not guilty verdict could
haye been rendered. The c.urt house
is not the place to settle personal differ
ences, and we hope yesterday’s trial will
keep out of the temple of justice such
cases.
The Times Cali, commends the twelve
men who served as jurors on this case
They did the proper thing, and public
opinion hacks them,
STOP IT, DAN.
Mr. Daniel Krauss is a nice little fel
low; he means well, but he is making an
awful mistake about this Sunday soiling
of soda, etc. If Mr. Krauss was solici
tor there would be some excuse for hiß
foolishness, but he is not. lie is just
simply little Daniel, and if Dan does not
hold up he Is going to grow even small
er than he is at present. The case
against Mr. Butts has not as yet been
tried, but there is no donbt about him
coming clear. A man who will defy
Daniel and dispense 'cool drinks to suf
ferers Is a public benefactor ins'ead of a
common law-breaker.
MR. WARNER RETURNS.
Fur years ago ox-Congressman John
PcWitt Warner was found in the anti-
Bryan .ranks. Not bo this year. He
says:
“Our country is row af the pnrtiDg of
the ways. If we indulge in subject col
onics, make eaturapies and pro. consul
ships the great prizes of political suc
cess, keep increasing our army to supply
imperial legions for any pait of earth
where we wish to interfere, exploit less
advanced nations for our commercial
gain aud allow Ihe executive to assume
whatever prerogative this extra consti
tutional program involves, wo shall get
Roman rottenness long before |_we have
achieved Roman peace. Our ancestors
in the revolution and our fathers In the
civil war gave their lives and treasure
to keep the country from such a fate,
and I prefer thtir ideal of a ciuutry to
that of Hanna, McKinley and Grosve
nor,”
That the Times-Call has the best
w ishes of the average business man is
evidenced by tho many kind expressions
heard yesterday. The Times-Cai.i. ap
preciates this.

THE BRUNSWICK TIMES-CALL, AUGUST 16, 1900.
GO DEEPER, GENTLEMEN.
The Times-Call is gratified at the
steps taken by Governor Candler and
the prison commissioners ’relative to the
treatment of convicts. Those who are
so unfortunate as to land in the Georgia
penitentiary should at least be treated
as human beings. There are still a num
ber of convict camps that need atten
tion, and we sincerely hope that the of
ficials will go dcoper into this very im
portant question.

Deafness Oannot Bs Cured
by local applications, as they caunot
reach the diseased portion of tho ear.
There is only one way to cure deafness,
aud that is by constitutional remedies.
Deafness is caused by an inflamed con
dition of the mucous lining of the Bus
tachian Tube. When this tube gets in
flamed, you have a rumbling sound or
imperfect hearing; and when it is en
tirely closed, deafness is the result, and
unless the inflammation can he taken out
and this tube restored to its normal con
dition, hearing wi'l he destroyed forever.
Nine cases out of ten are caused by ca
tarrh, which is nothing but an iriflamed
condition of the mucous surfaces.
We will give One Hundred Dollars for
any case of Deafness (caused by catarrh)
that cannot be cured by Hall’s Catarrh

sick for over a week, had two or three bottles o
medicine from the doctor. Ho used them for
throe or four days without relief, then called iu
another doctor who treated him for some days
and gave him no relief, so discharged him. 1
went over to sec him the next morning, We
said his bowels were in a terrible fix, that they
had been running off so long that it was almost
bloody flux. I asked him If he had tried Cham

and he said, ‘No.’ I went home ami brought
him my bottle and gave him one dose; told him
to take another dose in fifteen or twenty min
