Editor Time i Call
Vou will kindly allow me space to
reply to au artiola from the Manager
of the Fernandina club, appearing in
Savannah News of 16cb.
When the Fernandina team was in
Brunawiok, Manager Borden oaine’to
me ard requested that we draw down
the SIOO forfeit for the SI,OOO series,
•which I promptly declined to do. Af
ter my leaving here, Mr. Borden went
to my fatbar and Mr. Coleman and
begged tbem to write and try to per_
auade me to draw down. At tbeir re
quest only did I write to Mr. Borden
and tell bim for that reason only, I
desired to draw the bet.
Mr. Borden ia very muoh mistaken
if he thinks 1 am anxious to pull
down. I will be on hand with my full
t.am next Thursday, in Savannah,
ready to show Mr. Borden that we can
b> at his team; and to show that I mean
business, will double the bet. Very
truly, Henry Hirsch,
Man’gr Brunswick Baseball Club.
Mr. Borden will now have a chance
to bank up some of ibe talking be haß
bsen doing since the Brunswick club
left for Selma.
OTHER BASEBALL ITEMS.
Henley, Brunswick’s new pitcher, la
■aid to be seooc and to none in tbe South.
He is a student, and not a profession

Tbe last game with Selma resulted

The Game Between the Fats
And Leans Amusing.
An average orowd went out to the
fair grounds yesterday to see the
game between tbe Fats and Leans,
and tbs otber events Three horses
entered the races—Fleming’s “Ba
V.ew,” Symon’s rid and Walter’s
iron grey. Tbe race was a quarter
of a mile, two beats. Fleming gave
tlie otber horses forty yards tbe start,
but wou easily both beats.
The next on tbe program was a foot
raoe, by a half dozen colored boys.
Then oame tbe gsme between tbe
Fats snd Leans, and this was, of
oourse, tbe most interesting event of
tbe day.
After a most interesting game the*
soore stood 2 to 1 in favor of tbe Fate.
As tbe Leans won tbe first g.-me,
tbe two clubs are even now.
Tbe game bad many special features,
Mr. P. W. Fleming actually caugot a
fiy and made a double play aDd Capt
Goldsmith did not make more tban
twenty kicks on umpire Coleman.
On aoooun} of “sioknesi” Judge 8y to
mes could not bold right field, but W.
J. Way made some pretty plays out
there. Dr Joerger did notgets-uok with
the ball. Capt. Symoas sbou.d have
played with the Fats, you know he is
a heavyweight and this oaused some
real kioking. Mr. Candler also
seemed a little out of plice with tbe
bonies. Ed Monday, or shorty, could
not pity; tbe fact of tbe matter it
snowed up there where Ed’s head is
generally to be found and this render
ed bim unfit for basebsl! service.
Dave Gsle, our Dave, played a fine
game. He struck tbe ball, but was so
surprised be oould no’ run.
Hsd it bo‘ been for tbs barrel of
beer on third the Fats would have d<-
fested ibe|Leans at least ten to one.
It Saved Bis Baßy.
“My baby was tciribly sick with ti e (liar

diate relief and a complete cure.” For sale by
