Woman isoften referred to by man “doubling hu joys and halving bis sorrows.” That may be complimentary, but it would seem to be rather bard on the woman. For tn plain terms It means that where things are going well with the man, hfg wife makes them go better. But when tilings are going ill with him. he expects the wife to share half his burden. And there’s more truth than poetry in this presentation of masculine selfishness. Men don’t appreciate the fact that the strain of motherhood alone is a burden bigger than all the loads that rest upon male shoulders. They see the wife grow th n. pale, nervous and worn without a thought that she is over-burdened. Among the pleasant letters received by Ilr Pierce are thoso from husbands who have w aked up before it was too late to the crushing burdens laid upon the wife, and in the search 1 for help have found in Dr. Pierce's Favorite I Prescription a restorative which has given back to the mother the health of the maiden and the maiden's happiuess. “Favorite Prescription’’ always helps, and almost always cures. It has imifectly cured ninety-eighi out of every hun dred who have used a w hen afilicted with dis eases peculiar to women. Something Interesting About the Great Event. The riflemen competition arranged by Savannah mil.tary men for tb- first part of ncx month may mean more than it appears on the surface Avondale range is considered one of the best in the country, with Its ample scope for skirmish practice. Tht Geor gia riflemen were not treated right at Seargiit and they have concluded to keep away from fur her in'erstate con tests at that place while present condt t oas exist. At Avondale ranch can be be found bet er facilities than at Seagirt aud, in all probability the scores made there, and the markmanshtp exh.bifed will equal those on the New Jersey grounds, There is an esprit do corps among the Georgia military men that p ecludesany misgiyingg of unfairness in any contest, whe her of the manual of arms or the shooting of ranges. Again, the desire to attain the highest proficiency witl tit* nfie or tbe sabre Is one of the sup erintending molivea that impel the military men to engage in contests at the rangts or ti ts on the camps. The rifle contest may be the means ol siimula'ing greater activity among the military men and encouraging ti.em to have their own annual shoo'a among people friendly to them, who will treat tuem fairly and hospitably.
