The Repnllisan Candidate
Stoops Low Indeed.
HE IS fl WHITE MAN, 1
S. Price Kobinson, Candi
didate for Senator, and
His Methods:
The democrats of Glynn, Charlton
and Camden counties [have been stirred
to great activity by a proposition sent
out by J. Price Robinson, the white
man who is opposing Hon. John J Up
church, oi Charlton, for senator from
this district. The following is a copy
of the proposition:
“To the republican negro voters through
out this whole senatorial -district:
"If lam elected by my white repub
lican lriends and negro voters through
out this senatorial district, and be suc
cessful to enter tho house of concress,
which is the upper house of the legisla
ture of the state of Georgia, I do hereby
make you Immhh that I will do
everything within my power to do, in
favor of putting the republican negro
voting citizenship in order.
“First, the jury of Charlton county
has never been known to be half negro,
but my promise to you will bring this in
and other rights, such as the negro
ought to have in this or these three ad
joining counties, which are Charlton,
Camden and Glynn. If I am successful
In being elected, the negroes of thin sou •
atorial district shall be put in the lead.
“J. PkICB ROBINSON.”
A s soon as the democrats of this coun
ty heard of this infamous proposal they
got to work in earnest. The executive
commgfce met and laid plans for a big
vote, and the Bryan and Stevenson club
has arranged for a great rally for next
Tuetday night Hat tho city hall. Con
gressman Brantley and other prominent
democrats will speak.
