BRUNSWICK, GA., WEDNESDAY MORNING. JANUARY 8, 1902

II Is First Class ia Every
Way, l
Brunswick theatre goers are assured
a great treat tonight ia tbe proseutst
ion of '‘Sag Harbor”. Tbe manager*
of the company presenting this great
play are the same who managed Lev
Moyne, tbe Christian, Viola Alien,
Mrs, Pat Campbell and ether, expeit
sir* attraotions which is a guarantee
that the production will be in every
way up to date and oils ot the very best
entertainments that will be presented
at tbe Grand this season.
One or two box parties have been
arranged for this evening and the
advene* sale of seats has been large.
The distinguished oritio of the New
York Herald, in bis review of “Sag
Harbor”, refers to Sir. Berne In tho
following words; 4 Herne was a suc
cessful play-maker and for many year*
the profession recognized him as a
great actor; but perhaps his largest
olatmi to fame was found In his method
of training actors and producing plays,
He was a wonder as a stage manager,
America had n >t his equal in producing
perfect illusion in soenet of simple
oountry life. His opening act with the
beautiful bay stretohing away; the
scene in the second act iu the old boat
shop where carpenters and painters are
at work upon the yachts, and his din
ner scene in the charming old country
cottage could not have been handled
with suoh skill by any etlser producer
in this country or in Europe. These
scenes are simple perfect in detail.”
* Ia addition tu this we may say that
these reslly marvelous specimens of
the soens painters’ art were painsta
kingly drawn from the actual scones
about "Sag Harbor on the lovely Long
Island Bound,” and the whole scheme
of setting for this play was carried
through with a faithful devotion to the
highest an results and at ontirmous
cost. A more perfect equipment in the
way of soenes, properties and appoint
ments has never been accorded to any
play in oor generation.
And after all, this is the least feature,
we are told, of this really great play
whose story has so enthralled the
satiated theatre-goers of New York,
where it ran for three months at the
New Theatre Republic, and in Cbioago
where It bad a most suooessfal en
gagement of eight weeks, that "Sag
Harbor-' has been a town topio during
tbe rnn of tbe play in both these cities
Not only is this play a surpassing
study of New England life, and the
whole action s perfect model of the
modern playwright’s art, bnt the act
ing of eaoh and every oharaoter is a
line expression of the highest type of
the player’s art. Indeed, this city is
to be congratulated upon tbe forth
coming appearance here of this flae
company.
