MORE PRACTICAL SUGGESTIONS
Last month, we looked at practical ideas to consider when you begin
the home-buying process. It was recommended to stay focused on “must
have” features. This week we’ll continue that discussion.
Always research, drive by and really get to know your target
neighborhood and property before making a final decision. Understanding
that more detail is better than just the big picture when it comes to
selecting your next property, try to envision yourself living there.
One of the newer essentials as homeowners look more toward
broadband, high-speed internet access for work and pleasure is: what
kind of wiring is featured? Be sure to understand what all the coaxial
connections really attach to: antenna, cable, digital cable, satellite. If
you have been accustomed to other type connections, such as DSL or
Fiber Optics, try to find out if these services are available if the property
doesn’t have them connected already.
Finally, the homeowners’ association documents should be read in
detail. Be sure and really understand your limits under these binding
documents. This HOA-document reading assignment may be time-
consuming but well worth your effort before purchasing a home.

(GAP) grant applications available
Grant applications are now available
for the Grassroots Arts Program (GAP)
through Golden Isles Arts and Human
ities Association (GIAHA). Deadline for
the state-funded arts-in-communities
program is September 12, 2008.
The purpose of the Grassroots Arts
Program is to help fund community-
based arts projects in every county
in Georgia. The Georgia Legislature
has been appropriating GAP funds
since 1993 in an effort to expand arts
experiences and opportunities at the
hometown level. GIAHA serves as the
re-granting agency for the Georgia
Council for the Arts for seven counties
in Southeast Georgia: Bryan, Camden,
Glynn, Liberty, Long, McIntosh and
Wayne.
100% of the Health System’s chari
table support is utilized for patient
care, and no funds are diverted to
overhead or operational costs. For
more information about the Founda
tion call (912) 466-3360 or visit www.

August 2 from 1-3 pm at the Bruns-
wick-Glynn County Library on Glouces
ter St. in Downtown Brunswick. Led
by Heather Heath, Executive Director
of GIAHA, and Candice Wilson, GAP
