16th Annual Spring Fine
The 16th Annual Spring Fine Arts
and Crafts Festival sponsored by the
Glynn Art Association will be held Sat
urday and Sunday, April 4 and 5, from
10 a.m. until 5 p.m. at Postell Park Pier
Village, St Simons Island.
Over 80 exhibitors and food vendors,
entertainment, and a children's art
tent will be available during the event.
The Gospel Messengers and the
McIntosh County Shouters will per
form two sets on Saturday April 4.
Two workshops will be presented

Golden Isles Arts and Humanities
Association (GIAHA) and Keep Bruns
wick-Golden Isles Beautiful (KBGIB)
are announce the 8th Annual Recycled
Trash Art Exhibit. The exhibit opens
on Friday, April 3, and runs through
Saturday, April 25, at the Ritz Theatre
Gallery, 1530 Newcastle St. in Historic
Downtown Brunswick.
Students in all grade levels in Glynn
County schools — kindergarten through
college — have been invited to partici
pate. All artwork is original and made
22nd Annual Coastal
National Juried Exhibit
The Glynn Art Association, with
sponsorship from Coastal Bank of
Georgia, will hold an opening recep
tion for the 22nd Annual Coastal
National Juried Exhibit on Thursday,
April 2, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with
awards being presented at 6 p.m.
This year’s judge is Judi Wagner
and she has selected over 60 pieces
of art to hang in the gallery. The
show includes paintings in water-
color, oil, pastel, acrylic and drawings
plus three dimensional pieces in wood
and clay.
Arts and Crafts festival
by artists from Sapelo Island. Stanley
Walker will hold a workshop on “Cast
Net Making” on Saturday April 4 from
10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Yvonne Grovner
will teach “Basket Weaving” on Sunday
April 5 from 11:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.
Take either workshop for $35 or both

Proceeds from the festival will sup
port Glynn Art Association’s visual arts
outreach programs in the community.

The award presentation will be
made during an opening reception Fri
day, April 3, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at
the Ritz Gallery. Light refreshments

The Glynn Art Gallery is located in

2. The opening is free and open to the

Spring Break camp
at YWCA
The YWCA of Brunswick is offering a
fun-filled spring break camp April 6-10
for children enrolled in pre-K through
fifth grade. Children will be treated to
a variety of activities including, music,
crafts, cooking projects, youth fitness,
social time with friends and much
more. Space is limited. To register call

New film at Ritz explores one couple's
struggle to make it in Hollywood
Golden Isles Arts and Humanities
Association, in partnership with The
Links, Inc., presents a new fiction film
as part of the Southern Circuit travel
ing film series. Ml About Us screens at
the Ritz Theatre in Downtown Bruns
wick, Friday, April 3, at 7 p.m.
All Southern Circuit films feature
appearances by the filmmakers, who
discuss their work with the audience.
Producer Michael Swanson, whose
wife Christine Swanson directed the
movie, will be at the Ritz for the
screening.
All About Us follows the adventures
of two young African-American film
makers struggling to make it in the
movie business. Unable to secure a
distribution deal for their latest film,
Ed (Boris Kodjoe) and Stacey Brown
(Ryan Michelle Bathe) are forced to
reconsider their cinematic dreams.
Michael Swanson has produced
numerous feature, documentary and
short films over the past 15 years,
many of which have won national and
festival awards. He is currently devel
oping three film projects. Swanson
resides in Charlotte, NC, with his wife,
director Christine Swanson, and their
three sons.
Admission to the film is $5 per per
son. For the entire Southern Circuit
film series, current GIAHA members
and all Glynn County High School stu
dents (with ID) get in free to all screen
ings. Tickets go on sale at 6 p.m. the
night of the screening. The 90-minute
feature plays at 7 p.m., followed by the
discussion with Michael Swanson.

A Man Named Pearl will screen
April 24 and is a documentary about
self-taught topiary artist Pearl Fryar
of South Carolina. □
GI Fiberarts Guild to meet April 6
The regular monthly meeting of the
Golden Isles Fiberarts Guild will be
held on Monday, April 6, 7:00 p.m.
in the Parish Hall of Holy Nativity
Church, 615 Mallery Street, St. Simons
Island.
The topic will be “Demos and Des
sert.” Several easy techniques will be
demonstrated and materials will be
available for members and guests to
try out what they are shown. A social
time with dessert will follow. Newcom
