At its annual membership meet
ing last week, Golden Isles Arts and
Humanities Association (GIAHA) pre
sented its Roberta Born Scholarship to
2009 Glynn Academy graduate Morgan
Leigh Ruedlinger in recognition of her
achievements in music, dance, theater,
and creative writing.
Morgan will attend the University of
Georgia in the fall as an English major
in the honors program. Her goal is to
become an author or screenwriter, and
she hopes to use the $1,000 scholarship
to help fund a study abroad program at
Oxford University in England.
Named in honor of educator and
former GIAHA board member Rober
ta Born, this annual scholarship is
awarded to a graduating senior or col
lege student with a strong background
and/or course of study in the arts and
humanities.
The award was presented to Ms.
Ruedlinger by GIAHA Vice President
Jimmy Bishop and longtime board
member Mildred Huie Wilcox.
New board members were intro
duced and officers for 2009-2010 were
elected: President Sherri Jones; Vice
President Jimmy Bishop; Treasurer
Dustin Paulk; Secretary Rosemary
Kaszans; Immediate Past President
Greer Brown; directors James DeLong,
Carlton DeVooght, Lorena Harris,
Margie Harris, Michele Jamieson, Lori
Lambright, Cheri Leavy, Linda Lokey,
Arnetia Maasha, Hawkins Pham, Dale
Tushman, and Mildred Huie Wilcox.
