Elizabeth Godbey receives
Lisa Ann Coole Award
Elizabeth Godbey, Glynn Academy
alumna and daughter of Donna and
Pat Godbey, graduated Summa Cum
Laude with a bachelor’s degree in Biol
ogy from The University of Georgia.
She also graduated with Highest Hon
ors from the Foundation Fellows pro
gram, UGA’s premier undergraduate
academic scholarship program, and
Elizabeth is the eleventh recipient
of this award.
During her four years at UGA in her
class of 20 Fellows, Elizabeth enjoyed
academic challenges and travel oppor
tunities. She used her post-freshmen
summer study abroad to travel to Aus
tralia, New Zealand, and Fiji; for spring
travel-study programs she journeyed

Upcoming Rec and Parks Dept, schedule
The Glynn County Recreation and
Parks Department will be offering
the following activities. To register
visit the Glynn County Recreation
and Parks office on Old Jesup Road.

Fall Sports Registration
Registration for football, soccer,
and cheerleading will be held from
Monday, August 3 to Monday, August
31. Parents can register their chil
dren at the Recreation main office on
Old Jesup Road or at the St. Simons
Office in Mallory Park.
Football is offered for boys ages 5
to 12. Players who are 5 or 6 years
old play flag football. Registration is
$30 and includes a team jersey. Boys
induction in numerous honorary orga
nizations, including Phi Beta Kappa,
Phi Kappa Phi, Presidential Scholar,
Alpha Epsilon Delta, Palladia Women’s
Honor Society, Golden Key Honor Soci
ety, Mortar Board, Beta Beta Beta, the
National Society of Collegiate Schol
ars, and the National Scholars Honor
Society.
Elizabeth is spending this summer
working for Southeastern Pathology
Associates in Brunswick, and in the
fall she will continue her studies at
Columbia University College of Physi
cians and Surgeons in New York City.

7 and up will play tackle football
and should come to the main office
on Old Jesup Road to receive their
football equipment. The registration
fee for tackle football is $55 and
includes equipment for use during
the season and a team jersey.
Soccer is offered for boys and girls
ages 5 to 17. Soccer registration is
$40. Teams will be co-ed. Soccer
players will receive a team jersey
and shin guards.
Cheerleading is for girls ages 5
to 12. The registration fee is $20,
which includes a team jersey and
pom poms.
Registration fees can be paid with
cash, check, Visa, MasterCard, or
Discover at our main office in Bruns
wick; with checks or cash at the Mal
lory Park office on St. Simons.
Clogging lessons
Clogging lessons will be held on
Monday evenings at the Ballard
Community Building. Beginners
classes are from 6 to 7 p.m. and
intermediate classes are from 7 to
8:30 p.m. Cost is $15 for the month.
Clogging is a great way to get
exercise and have fun. No experi
ence is necessary; two left feet are no
problem. If you can count to three,
then you learn to clog. No partner or
equipment is needed. Wear comfort
able clothes and flat shoes that will
slide. Everyone is welcome, adults
and children ages 6 and up. □
