The 2009-10 school year will begin
on Thursday, Aug. 6.
Open House provides an oppor
tunity for parents and students to
meet teachers and school faculty
and to familiarize themselves with
the school campus. Parents will also
receive important information and
documents pertinent to the coming
school year.
Parents will not be able to register
students who are new to the Glynn
County School System at Open
House events. The Glynn County
School System has instituted a cen
tralized registration process for par
ents who are enrolling their child in
school in Glynn County for the first
time. Parents will now visit a central
registration location, as opposed to
visiting individual schools, to regis
ter their child or children.
Through Wednesday, August 5,
centralized registration will take
place at the “old” Jane Macon Middle
School, 3885 Altama Ave., from 8:30
a.m. to 4 p.m. daily (except Saturday
and Sunday). After that date, regis
tration will be available at the “old”
Glynn Middle School, 901 George
Street, from 8:30 a.m. to noon and 1
p.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily (except Satur
day and Sunday).
Parents should bring their child’s
birth certificate, Social Security card,
proof of immunization, a certificate
stating that the child has received
eye, ear and dental examinations
within one year prior to enrollment,
and parent/guardian photo identifi
cation.
Parents who need to know the
school for which their child is zoned
to attend should call the Transporta
tion Department at 267-4120. □
