er for people 50 and over, this course
covers defensive driving techniques,
new traffic laws, rules of the road and
more. The course may qualify par
ticipates for a discount on their auto
insurance premium. Workshop free
but a workbook is required and will be
sold in class for $12 for AARP mem
bers and $14 for non-members.
• The Midway Museum Cultural
Tour, Sat. September 19, 9:30 a.m.-2
p.m. Coastal Georgia historian Sudy
Leavy will guide this tour of cul-
turally-rich Midway community in
Liberty County. The tom' includes a
stop at the famous Congregational
Church, established in 1752; the Mid
way cemetery, resting place of many
founding families; and the nearby
Midway Museum, with its exhibits,
documents and furnishings offering a
visual encounter with Georgia’s colo
nial period. A Dutch treat lunch at a
favorite Midway seafood restaurant
will be the last stop before returning
home. Fee: $59 until September 7, $79
until September 11. No registrations
after this date.
• I’d Climb the Highest Mountain,
Saturday matinee, September 19, 3
p.m., Southeast Georgia Conference
Center, CCGA, Brunswick campus.
Starring Susan Hayward and Wil
liam Lundigan, this 1951 movie tells
the story of a circuit riding minister
in the mountains of North Georgia
and his city-bred wife. The movie
was adapted from an autobiographical
novel by Georgia native Cora Harris.
Free. Co-sponsored by the college and
the Brunswick-Glynn County Library.

Deadline nears for GAP grant application
Organizations seeking funding for
arts projects to apply for state grants
can apply for the Grassroots Arts
Program (GAP) through Golden Isles
Arts and Humanities Association
(GIAHA), the designated re-granting
agency for the Georgia Council for the
Arts. Deadline for the state funded
arts-in communities program is Sep
tember 15.
The purpose of the Grassroots Arts
Program is to help fund community-
based art projects in every coun
ty in the State of Georgia. GIAHA
serves as the re-granting agency for
the Georgia Council for the Arts for
11 counties in Southeast Georgia:
Appling, Brantley, Bryan, Camden,
Charlton, Glynn, Liberty, Long,
McIntosh, Pierce and Wayne.
Programs and projects eligible
for funding include but are not lim
ited to festivals, concerts, folk art
programs, theatre and dance perfor
mances, visual arts exhibitions, film
programs, murals, workshops and
other art services. For more informa
tion on eligible projects or to receive a
grant application, contact GIAHA at

of their daughter, Emily Jane Saeger,

The bride-to-
be is the grand
daughter of Mrs.
M.A. Glucksman
and the late Dr.
Glucksman of St.
Simons Island
and the late Mr.
and Mrs. Warren
Saeger.
She is a 2005
graduate of Valdo
sta High School.
In 2009, Miss
Saeger graduated
cum laude from
the University of
Georgia with a
Bachelor of Arts
degree in Jour
nalism, Magazines. She is currently
employed at the University of Georgia
as a research assistant and graduate
student.
The groom-to-be is the grandson of
the late Mr. and Mrs. Sidney F. Croney
of Barbados, British West Indies and
the late Mr. and
Mrs. Audley Jar
vis of Quitman,
Ga. Mr. Wood
graduated from
Valdosta High
School in 2002,
then went on to
receive a Bach
elor of Education
degree in Busi
ness Education
from Valdosta
State Universi
ty in 2007. Mr.
Wood is currently
a business edu
cation teacher
at Baldwin High
School in Milled-
geville, Ga.
A Decem
ber wedding is
planned at St.
Richard's Epis
copal Church on
Jekyll Island, followed by a reception at
Straton Hall on Jekyll Island. Invita
