Vge 2 N KGIB Receives Georgia Power Donation for Safety Vests Keep Golden Isles Beautiful recently received a $1,500 donation from Georgia Power for the purchase of volunteer safety vests. The safety vests will be used by Adopt-A-Highway and Special Cleanup volunteers who work diligently to help keep the Golden Isles clean, green and beautiful. In 2017, KGIB volunteers removed 76 tons of roadway litter and recovered 64 tons of recyclables from public spaces. Adams will give an update on office reforms and account ability measures since he has been in office. The meeting will be held at the Bonefish Grill in Retreat Plaza on the Island. The cost is $20 which covers lunch, beverage, dessert and gratuity. Cash and checks are accepted. Members and non-members are welcome. McGinty-Gordon Associates Connecting clients to confidence GIRW meeting to host State School Superintendent Richard Woods and Superior Court Clerk Ron Adams The Golden Isles Republican Wom en will hold their monthly meeting on Monday, September 10. The guest speakers will be Richard Woods, State School Superintendent, and Ron Ad ams, Glynn County Clerk of Superior Court. As State School Superintendent, Woods holds Georgia’s only elected position with a direct impact on edu cation statewide and the more than 1.7 million students in Georgia public schools. Woods brings a combination of leadership, classroom, and business experiences to the office. In addition to 14 years of classroom teaching ex perience, he served eight years in ad ministrative roles including assistant principal, principal, curriculum direc tor, department chair, testing coordi nator, pre-k director, and alternative school director. Richard’s platform is based on “less testing, more teaching,” safe schools, and increasing STEM education opportunities. As Clerk of Superior Court, Adams administers the registration and re tention of official documents, includ ing Civil and Criminal Proceedings, Real Estate and Personal Property Transactions, Jury System Admin istration, Child Support Receiver, Board of Equalization Administration, and Passports.
