January 14, 2019, The Islander, Page 11 CVB to host 2nd Annual Golden Isles Hospitality Celebration The Golden Isles Convention & Visi tors Bureau will hold its annual hospi tality celebration to be held Thursday, January 24 at The Cloister. Following the success of last year’s inaugural event, the CVB will once again honor those who have made and continue to make significant, lasting impacts in the Golden Isles. “It is a privilege for our organization to celebrate and recognize the hospital ity industry and our community here in Glynn County,” said Scott McQuade, president and CEO of the Golden Isles CVB. “This is a night for those directly and indirectly related to the tourism sector to kick back, relax, catch up with colleagues and coworkers and cel ebrate the successes of the past year.” The second annual awards ceremo ny, along with live entertainment and a plated dinner, will all be a part of the evening celebrating the Golden Isles’ largest industry. Award categories include Lifetime Achievement, Partner of the Year, Creative Expression, Best Impres sion, Rising Star, Behind the Scenes, Community Spirit and Shared Vision awards. The awards are an effort to recognize members all across the lo cal hospitality industry, from back- of-house team members to front desk staff, and young workers to upper management. “The Golden Isles Hospitality Awards honor those who have gone above and beyond their call of duty to deliver outstanding experiences throughout the area,” said McQuade. “The inaugural awards were inspir ing, and we look forward to continu ing to applaud the champions in our community.” Submissions are now open and all are encouraged to apply. Coastal Republican Women to meet On Wednesday, January 23, the Coastal Republican Women’s Club to host Mr. Jonathan Hanen, Regional Field Representative for the Federation for American Im migration Reform. Hanen will discuss the current status of Congressional legisla tion on illegal immigration, sanctuary cities, and negotiation of immigration reform. Registration for the luncheon begins at 11:30 a.m. at the Brunswick Country Club, 4041 US Highway 17. The meeting will start at noon. The luncheon buffet cost if $16.00. Everyone is invited. The course chronologically traces Georgia’s coastal history from Na tive American culture through 20th century events, including World War II. While covering the coast from Savannah to St. Marys, the focus of the lecture series will be on St. Si mons, Jekyll, and Brunswick.
