prayer list - espe
cially the Grands.
I am thankful that
God kept Avery
safe through a car
accident last week which happened
while I was still asleep but he was on
the road to his summer job. We are
thankful that he was not hurt - except
for the heartbreak of losing his first car
- and he was not at fault so maybe the
insurance will help find another one
quickly. We are thankful.
Flowers were placed in Brunswick
First United Methodist Church in
loving memory of Ken Lambright Sr.
and E. W. “Red” and Melba Stanford
by the family. A rose bud on the altar
honored the birth of Anderson King
Tipton, son of Alexandria and Andrew
Tipton.
Frederica Baptist Church will
gather for a cookout on July 3 as the

Alford in the death of her husband

80th Birthday of Vernon Langford on

to 3 pm.

- read a good book or two or three -
take a walk on the beach - play tourist
and visit our special points of interest
- best of all just sit and rock and pon
der God’s great gifts to each of us. It is
also a great time to make a “New Fall”
resolution to get more involved in the
church of your choice. New classes and
programs begin in the Fall and all need
leadership. A loving heart and willing
ness to help are all that is required.
Tabby Slave Cabins open
for Saturday tours
Cassina Garden Club has opened
the tabby slave cabins for public tours
on Saturdays, July 20, August 3, and
17, from 10 a.m. until noon. The cab
ins are also open each Wednesday in
June, July, until August 14, from 10
a.m. until noon. The cabins were built
by slaves in the early 1800’s and house
slaves who lived and worked on Hamil
ton Plantation on Gascoigne Bluff.
James Hamilton developed the land
in the early 1790’s into one of the larg
est cotton plantations on St. Simons
Island. In 1932, with permission from
the county, Cassina Garden Club be
gan using the slave cabins as a meeting
place, and in 1950 the county deeded
the property and cabins to the club.
Through the years, Cassina Garden
Club’s mission has been to restore and
preserve the integrity of the Hamilton
Plantation slave cabins. In 1988, the
historic property was placed on the Na
tional Register of Historic Places by the
United States Department of Interior.
There is a $3 suggested donation,
per adult. Cassina has well-informed
docents who serve as guides and edu
cators about the history and various
artifacts found at the site of the tabby

Bible Baptist graduates 28
The Bible Baptist Institute, a ministry of Bible Bible Church, held its Commencement Exercises on June 2 for 28 graduates.
Twenty were from the three year program and eight were from the Associate Program. We are so proud of each of these
graduates who have given of their time to study and learn their Bible from cover to cover. If you are interested in this

Local support making a difference in Haiti
From the Twin Parish News, A partnership between St. William, St. Simons Island, and St. Jospeh,
Cotes-de-Fer, Haiti
Because of you, three chapels now have beautiful floors and completed cement work in their interiors. In his update on
chapel construction, Father Faustin reported that two chapels are completely finished and another is almost complete.
Some of the money raised at last year’s Fete for Haiti was used for chapel construction. Four chapels received cement,
but had to wait for rain, because there wasn’t sufficient water to mix the cement.
It’s wonderful to see the progress being made throughout our twin parish because of you.
