Georgia WAND is a grassroots organization, led by black women, working to
bridge the rural/urban divide, advance self-determination, educate stakehold
ers, and develop leaders in front-line communities located downstream and
downwind from the nuclear weapons and energy industries. Georgia WAND
staff from Waynesboro and Atlanta will share information about how the Savan
nah River Site nuclear weapons complex (SRS) is expanding its nuclear weap
ons activities; what the relationship is between SRS, the expansion of nuclear
power Plant Vogtle, and what’s happening in Camden County; and how Georgia
WAND is addressing generations of systemic racism, misogyny, and environ
mental injustices related to the nuclear industry by advancing their Nuclear
Harm Reduction model.
Scott leaves Glynn for Vidalia
Brian Scott, Chief of Staff of the
Glynn County Police Department has
accepted the Police Chief Position for
the City of Vidalia, Georgia.
Scott began career in public safety
at 18 when he went to work at the
McIntosh County Sheriffs Office as a
dispatcher. He moved on to the Bruns
wick Police Department where serving
two years as a dispatcher then at age
21 he was hired as a police officer by
the Glynn Comity Police Department,
and with the exception of a short period
in 2017, he has worked for the Glynn
County Police Department every since.
Scott said, “My family and I are
excited about moving to Vidalia and
becoming part of a great community.”
“The Vidalia Police Department is
a dedicated group of men and women,
and I look forward to working along
side and leading them to serve the citi
zens of Vidalia,” he said.
Scott is working with Chief John
Powell to choose a replacement within
the department to work in public infor
mation and media relations.
“This is a bittersweet time for me, as
I have enjoyed serving as Chief of Staff
for the Glynn County Police Depart
ment under Chief Powell’s leadership,”
Scott said.
