An new ownership team is onboard
at Sea Palms and is committed to re
establishing Sea Palms Resort and
Conference Center as the hospital
ity, corporate meetings, recreation
and entertainment hub of St. Simons
Island.
Early this year, new ownership
joined together to acquire the assets
of the Sea Palms Resort & Confer
ence Center. The new ownership is
comprised of the investment group
- RREAF Holdings, LLC of Austin,
Texas, and Sea Palms Coastal Man
agement, LLC as the managing part
ner, headed by Will Carter, formerly
of Chattanooga.
The new ownership team fully
recognized the outstanding potential
of Sea Palms. The resort’s beauty,
excellent mid-island location and ex
tensive recreational amenities make
it a valuable asset of the island com
munity. New ownership is enthusias
tic in reestablishing Sea Palms to its
former stature as a world-class resort
attracting new club members, vaca
tioners, wedding parties, and corpo
rate guests - locally, regionally and
nationally.
RREAF Holdings, LLC (RREAF)
is a privately held commercial real
estate firm based in Dallas, Texas
with roots going back 30 years in the
industry.
As the President and CEO of Sea
Palms Coastal Management, LLC.,
Will Carter delivers a diverse back
ground of experience in consumer
service businesses. A literal jack-of-
all-trades, he has vast experience in
business management.
Will has a strong history in com
munity service having served as the
Board President of the Boys and Girls
Club of Hall County and as the Chair
man of the Georgia Area Council for
Boys and Girls Club of America. In
addition, Will coached High School
football and basketball for 10 years
and served on the Board of Trustees
of Lakeview Academy and was the
Chairman of the Athletic Committee.
Will is an avid golfer and college
football fan and enjoys spending time
with his family. He is a new and en
thusiastic resident of the Golden Isles
community.
Also important to the Sea Palms
Coastal Management team is Wes
Bishop, Senior Director of Projects
and Operations. Wes has over 20
years of cross industry experience in
technology and operational adminis
tration including commercial finance,
warehousing, health care, manufac
turing and distribution logistics with
emphasis on risk mitigation.
Wes has consulted in a COO ca
pacity with companies with complex
operational requirements. Originally
from Gainesville, GA, Bishop is in the
process of relocating residency to St.
Simons Island.
A major transformation is in the
making. Almost every aspect of the
Sea Palms property is being touched
vastly updating and improving this
well-established resort entity.
Originally designed by George
Cobb and Tom Jackson in 1967,
the Sea Palms golf course is well
established as one of the finest tracks
in the Golden Isles offering challeng
ing play for golfers of all levels.
The courses’ last four holes are
considered among the finest finishing
holes in the region.
The Chattanooga-based golf design
firm, King Collins, is currently mak
ing their mark on this dynamic course
giving the Sea Palms course a $1.7
million facelift. Virtually every hole
is being touched and reshaped with
special emphasis on holes 16 and 18.
The course is totally reseeded from
tees to greens with special tif turfs,
while laser-leveling and reshaping of
all tee boxes is underway. A brand-
new putting green adjacent to 1st
hole tee boxes is being created. New
tee monuments, tee markers and co
quina shell cart paths will grace the
course, with totally renovated com
fort stations and the 9th hole halfway
house adding vast improvement to
the course’s infrastructure.
The iconic green fencing along
Frederica Road is being saved through
major repair and replacement, along
with tree trimming, landscaping, and
aesthetic improvement at the street
level.
Enthusiastically named The Mira
cle by its designers and creators, King
Collins, this dynamic new club mem
bers’ only practice facility will set a
higher standard for golf facilities of
its kind, anywhere.
Located on the par 5 ninth hole of
the former Sea Palms West course,
the new facility will offer club mem
bers possibilities for improving their
total game.
The Miracle and the rebuild of Sea
Palms 18-hole championship course
are scheduled for grand opening on
September 28, 2019.
In addition to golf, a major facelift
is underway across the face of the re
sort. The clubhouse and conference
center are being updated including
the ballroom, meeting rooms, lobby,
guest services area, restaurant, the
golf pro shop, and locker rooms.
