Special Saturday Sounds by the Sea
with The Blues Factor Band
Great music in a perfect setting will
take place Saturday, August 31 with
The Blues Factor Band. The concert
takes place at Neptune Park (Oceans
ide of the Casino Building) on St. Si
mons Island from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
If you like Classic Rock, The Roll
ing Stones, Motown, Funk, R&B and
great hits from the past and the pres
ent, The Blues Factor Band is sure to
please.
Don’t be fooled by the name, as blues
is not all the band plays. The variety of
music reaches from the Southern Rock
Sound of Lynyrd
Skynyrd, to the
Top Hits of the
50’s, 60’s & 70’s,
80’s, 90’s and to
day. The group
has been ranked
the number one
party band in
the southeast
for over five
years and plays
both private and
public events
throughout the
year. They per
form a high en
ergy show.
“We are excited to bring The Blues
Factor Band to the Labor Day weekend
festivities,” said Heather Heath, Exec
utive Director. “A reminder that this
concert will take place on Saturday,
not our usual Sunday night show. We
are looking forward to a great evening
of music.”
Sounds by the Sea is presented by
Golden Isles Arts & Humanities at
Neptune Park on St. Simons Island
directly behind the Casino building.
Guests are encouraged to bring a pic
nic supper and a lawn chair or blanket
to relax on. The season is sponsored
by Step One Automotive Group; The
Fairfield Inn and Suites serves as the
hotel sponsor.
Admission to Sounds by the Sea,
payable at the gate the night of each
show, is $10 for adults. Children ages 6
to 12 are $5, and under 6 years old are

Acting on Camera Workshop at the Ritz
Golden Isles Arts & Humanities will
offer a special workshop, The Film Act
ing Intensive, taught by experienced
actress April Billingsley on Saturday,
September 7 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m at the
Ritz Theatre. The workshop is open to
any interested person age 16 years and
up.
Participants will learn the ins and
outs of acting for the camera includ
ing audition techniques, learning what
makes a scene interesting and watch-
able, how to approach a script and much
more. Beginners and pros alike will find
this workshop both challenging and in
formative, regardless of experience or
skill level.
April Billingsley is an award-winning
actress from Atlanta, Ga. You might
know her from the star-studded cast of
“Last Vegas” where she plays a support
ing role opposite Kevin Kline, Morgan
Freeman, Michael Douglas, Robert De-
Niro and others; or from her recurring
role as Barbara Langston in the ABC
show, “Resurrection”.
She has played roles in several hit TV
shows including “The Walking Dead,”
“The Mentalist,” “The Vampire Diaries,”
and ‘Doom Patrol” among others. In
2016, she was acclaimed at festivals for
her starring role in the quirky indepen
dent feature, “The 12 Lives of Sissy Car
lyle.” Recently she played a pivotal role
in die Lifetime movie, ‘Mommy Murder
Group.” Look for her in the upcoming
HBO show, “The Outsider,” or helming
the mysterious psychological thriller,
“The Dark Red” directed by Dan Bush
(The Signal). ‘The Dark Red” premiered
internationally at Fright Fest in London.
Class size is limited to 12 partici
pants. Cost for the full day workshop is
