by Pamela Permar-Shierling
SIN
Last Tuesday (August 20) in a
special called meeting the Bruns
wick Glynn County Development
Authority approved a $57,000 Re
volving Load Fund request to Odell
Rosby, owner of Rosbys Conve
nience Store at the corner of MLK
and G Streets.
Rosby was at the meeting and
told the board that he wants to
purchase the building he currently
leases and upgrade the building and
add some equipment.
“We are known,” he said, “for the
biggest burgers in Brunswick and
they are always freshly cooked; pat-
tied out each day.”
“Our food is great,” he continued.
“We prepare fish and shrimp. We
are a neighborhood store and start
ed gradually. Now I want to serve
restaurant style food, and I want
the building to look presentable.”
Development Authority member
Bill Austin said, “We should be do
ing more of this. We should be put
ting money into depressed areas. By
loaning Mr. Rosby the money we are
investing in local business. I com
mend our president (Ryan Moore)
for taking this step.”
Rosby thanked the board and
said, “You have nothing to worry
about. This is going to work.”
Rosby, who will contribute $7,000
of the cost to purchase and repair
the building, will have 10 years to
repay the loan at a 3% interest rate.
The board adopted a $2,250,000
bond resolution for Frederica Acad
emy to renovate their middle school,
acquire 2.24 acres, and repay
$460,000 of existing debt. There is
no liability to the Development Au
thority or to Glynn County.
The board approved a 40 year
lease for a cell tower at North Glynn
Commerce Park. The lease is for
five years with seven, five year re
newal options. The company has
three years to build the tower and
will pay rent of $500 per month for
the first option year nad $1,000 per
month for the next two option years.
The 153 ft. tower will be build in
the northwest corner of the park.
