November is a month of finding many ways to express thanks - begin ning with the extra hour of sleep this weekend. Begin now to look for ways to express thanks to all those people who bring joy to our life in so many ways each and every day. Make a call, send a card, bake a cake, reach out to someone who needs a word of encour agement and love. I will begin this month with a word of thanks for all you faithful read ers who stop me out and about in our community and say thanks for some thing you have read in our very special weekly paper. Your kind words keep us going. I am greatly blessed with sweet memories of times spent with our Founders Teensie and Elise in the early days of creating a weekly paper by cut and paste in Teensie’s living room. The floor was usually covered with clip art scraps. How technology has changed. Just when I think I know how to do this, something new comes along and I wonder if it is time to retire and then someone stops me in Winn Dixie and my battery gets recharged. Thank You. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, about one in three Americans are overweight. These individuals are more likely to develop high blood pressure, diabetes and heart disease. Some are even able to dis continue diabetes and blood pressure medications entirely. An Evening of Empowerment will include a presentation from Tsai re garding the advancements made in bariatric surgery, which he now offers at Southeast Georgia Health System.
