Page 6, November 4, 2019, The Islander F. J. Torras Causeway resurfacing project starts November 4 The $3.1 million resurfacing and safety enhancements of the F. J. Torras Causeway beginning at US 17 and ex tending to Kings Way started Monday, November 4. The work includes bike lane improvements that will enhance cyclists’ safety on the bridges that con nect to the multiuse trails along the causeway. East Coast Asphalt will begin milling and resurfacing operations from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m., nightly on the four-mile project limits. If weather cooperates, the project should be completed in 90 days. Single lane conditions should be expected nightly while contractors’ paving activities are underway. Contractors will start milling out asphalt then lay new asphalt and temporary striping. Once the resur facing operation is complete, the per manent striping will reconfigure the lane widths to calm traffic and accom modate two-way bike traffic over the southside bridges with 3-foot buffer and flex posts.
