Page 8, November 4, 2019, The Islander St. Marys Tall Ship Alliance is is bringing Tall Ship “ Schooner Vir ginia” to Brunswick and it will be open to the public on November 15 through November 30. Schooner Virginia is a 122 foot wooden schooner tall ship that is a modern replica of a 1916 pilot vessel that had the same name. Schooner Virginia is owned and operated by the nonprofit Nauticus Foundation out of Norfolk, Va., which offers to the public and groups the experience of sailing aboard a historical replica tall ship. Schooner Virginia has proven to be a world class schooner tall ship when she took “Top Prize” over 20 other schooners tall ships at this year’s 2019 Chesapeake Schooner Race, set ting a new Fastest Race Time. Schooner Virginia will be docked at the Brunswick landing Marina. Free public deck tours, youth educational program and paid public sailing will be offered. The schooner will be avail able for private group charters. St Marys Tall Ship Alliance is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that promotes and preserves the history of Tall Ship along with promoting them to visit the southern Georgia Coast.
