Permar After meeting for about two hours and 15 minutes last week (Wednesday July 29), Glynn County’s Police Advi sory Panel (PAP) approved motions for three recommen dations they hoped would go to the County Board of Com missioners (BOC) during their August 6 meeting this week. Note: The three items are not listed on the BOC’s Au gust 6 agenda, however items can be added during the meet ing if a majority of the board agrees. The first PAP motion was to have the County Police De partment patrol division re turn to working 10-hour shifts instead of 12-hours, which is the current practice. Permar During last month’s Glynn County Board of Commis sioners (BOC) work session (Tuesday, July 21) the board decided to move forward with construction of the new Ani mal Control facility that is proposed for property adjacent to the Public Safety Complex off of SPUR 25. Note: Since that meeting, County Public Works Director Dave Austin said the construc tion contract with R.H. Tyson Construction (RHT) of Blacks- hear has been signed. He said the ‘Notice to Proceed’ and the pre-construction meeting is set for August 11. Police, firefighters, dispatchers, and EMTs were treated to grilled hotdogs and hamburgers and fixin’s on Glynn Avenue plus a variety of gifts. A big Thank You to Coldwell’s Bill Robinson and the agents who organize this event each year. The public, of course, was invited and enjoyed the event as much as the honored guests. The contract in question is for $3.9 million with Georgia Asphalt Producers. Magnolia Park is a resi dential neighborhood of ap proximately 215 houses locat ed north of Brunswick High School between Altama Av enue and Habersham Street in Brunswick. The neighborhood’s main thoroughfare, Tara Lane, is Turn to Page 12 Magnolia Park Development Authority awards grants By Pamela Permar- Shierling Last week during their regular meeting (July 27) The Golden Isles Development Au thority (GIDA) awarded two ‘Share the Future’ Grants, $500 to East River Creek Gal lery & Shoppe for landscaping and $10,000 to Kut Kwick for equipment upgrades, specifi cally network servers. The owner of East River Creek Gallery & Shoppe, Sha ron Cacase, a retired special education teacher, purchased the property at 2628 New castle St., on the corner of Newcastle and Q St., which includes an in-house studio where she holds weekly class es.
