BPD receives $30,000 grant
Brunswick Police Department has
received a $30,000 grant from the
Governor’s Office of Highway Safety
(GOHS).
The grant, which will continue
through September of 2024, will help
finance the purchase of six Panasonic
Tough Book laptop computers for pa
trol vehicles for the reporting of vehicle
crashes.
“As an agency we are grateful for
the support from the Governor’s Office
of Highway Safety,” Brunswick Police
Chief Kevin Jones said.
“This grant funding has not only, al
lowed us to update mobile equipment
but also enhance our ability to com
plete traffic incidents more effectively.
Equipping our patrol vehicles with
advanced technology is a crucial step
in modernizing our approach to road
safety.
“This funding enables us to inte
grate state-of-the-art tools into our
21st-century policing strategy, enhanc
ing our ability to respond to and docu
ment traffic incidents more efficiently.
By using these new technologies, we
are not just making our operations bet
ter; we are also working towards a fu
ture eliminating traffic deaths.”
“The loss of one life on our roads is
one too many, and the fact almost all
fatal traffic crashes can be prevented
is one reason why we are awarding
this grant,” Allen Poole, Director of the
Governor’s Office of Highway Safety
said.
“The target of zero traffic deaths in
our nation is achievable, and we will
continue to help develop and imple
ment educational messages, enforce
ment campaigns, and other safety ini
tiatives aimed at bringing us one step
closer to our goal.”
