During a special called
meeting last Tuesday (Sept.
24) the Camden County Board
of Commissioners voted to
give Brunswick Judicial Cir
cuit District Attorney Keith
Higgins more money, but not
before a lot of discussion.
The DA’s Camden County
fiscal year 2025 budget totals
$773,145. The breakdown is:
• $732,377 annual funding
• $12,918 supplement to
DA
• $26,350 janitorial ser
vices & utilities for Camden
office
• $1,500 Court witness fees.
Camden County processes
payroll and benefits for four
employees at approximately
$25,833 per month and the
DA reimburses the county for
those payroll and benefits.
The four employees include
an assistant district attorney
(ADA), a receptionist in the
Glynn office, chief investigator
and a victims advocate.
DA Higgins asked Camden
to pay for an additional six
employees including a Deputy
Chief ADA, Senior ADA and
an ADA, two legal assistants
and a victims advocate.
The county would only be
responsible for paying the
supplements for the three
ADA’s. The other three em
ployees pay would include
salaries and benefits.
Camden County Adminis
trator Shawn Boatright told
the commission that Higgins
had reached out to the other
counties in the district ask
ing them for the same services
because Glynn County was no
longer going to process and
pay the payroll for the entire
district.
