The College of Coastal Georgia on
illegal aliens and Dual Enrollment
Below is yet another reminder of
what Georgia’s Dual Enrollment pro
gram really does for illegal aliens and
illegal immigration in Georgia.
I note that GOP state Rep. Steven
Sainz (R-180) told me in January he
would work to pass a bill to reform this
program but didn’t drop it until long af
ter it had any possibility to pass in the
2024 session. It was HB 1509 - intro
duced on March 21, 2024. The session
ended on March 29, 2024.
Any reform should require Dual En
rollment applicants to be either U.S.
citizens or Lawful Permanent Resi
dents (green card holders). This will
prevent the illegal aliens who have
been illegally granted “parole” by the
Biden administration to access the tax-
payer-funded college classes.
It is amazing to this writer that Re
publicans are apparently sitting back
in silence in response to the fact that
our tax dollars are being used to wel
come, reward and encourage illegal im
migration. Georgia taxpayers are fully
funding college classes and books, and
fees for illegal aliens via the state Dual
Enrollment program.
To remove any doubt that the above
is true and to put a local, Coastal
Georgia spin on the issue, a plain lan
guage letter was sent to the College of
Coastal Georgia in August asking di
rect questions on the Dual Enrollment
operation.
In part, it went like this:
“Dear sirs,
Upon our relocation to Glynn Coun
ty next year, we are looking forward
to admissions/
class atten
dance to your
college for our
offspring - two
of whom are
high school
students. We
are citizens of
Mexico and are
undocumented.
We want to
take advan
tage of the dual
enrollment
program. One
child will be in
grade 11 and
the another
in grade 12.
They are also
undocumented.
We are try
ing to confirm:
• Dual en
rollment stu
dents in Geor
gia high school
pay zero tuition
or books and
fees for classes
at College of
Coastal Geor
gia regardless
of immigration status.
• Undocumented students who are
already out of high school must pay the
out of state tuition rate and for their
books and normal fees at CCG.
Please confirm the above under
standing is correct and accurate?”
Response from the college:
“Greetings!
Thank you for your interest in the
College of Coastal Georgia!
My name is Shane Apps and I work
with incoming local freshmen and dual
enrollment applicants.
Based on current legislation, you are
correct on both statements regarding
dual enrollment and post-secondary
admission for undocumented students.
Please note that these policies are
subject to change as we follow state
of Georgia and University System of
Georgia mandates.
Attached to this email is a flyer that
goes over the admission requirements
for dual enrollment applicants.”
